It raised a $25M Series A in March 2025 and has fielded systems with US military branches and partners in Ukraine.
Milind Borkar
Milind Borkar is the founder and CEO of Illuma, a Plano, Texas company that uses passive voice biometrics and synthetic-voice detection to authenticate callers and stop phone-channel fraud at credit unions and community banks. He holds a PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Tech, is named on 21 patents, and spent a decade at Texas Instruments launching more than 50 products before founding Illuma in 2016.
Cambridge Terahertz
Cambridge Terahertz is an MIT spinout building a chip-based imaging system that combines the 3D vision of lidar with the see-through power of X-ray, but using human-safe terahertz waves at a thousandth the power of a cell phone. Shrunk from an airport-scale scanner into a palm-sized, two-pound device, its AI-powered sensors detect concealed weapons through clothing and bags, and can see inside sealed packages without opening them. Founded in 2023 by MIT PhD Nathan Monroe, the company raised a $12M seed round led by Felicis with participation from Amazon's Industrial Innovation Fund.
SpeakIn Technologies Co.,Ltd.
SpeakIn Technologies is a voiceprint-recognition and identity-security company founded in Silicon Valley in 2015 and headquartered in Shenzhen. Using deep neural networks and its iVector engine, SpeakIn turns the unique physical signature of a human voice into a biometric key, offering both 1:1 verification (is this the right speaker?) and 1:N identification (who is speaking, out of many?). Its SDK and cloud APIs are used across banking, public security, and smart devices, with reported accuracy near 98% and customers including Tencent, Lenovo, ASUS, and China Merchants Bank.
Lawrence Chen
Lawrence Chen (Chen Haoliang) is the founder and CEO of SpeakIn Technologies, a Shenzhen-based voiceprint recognition company he started in 2015. An MIT dropout who previously worked on Google Glass's human-machine interaction program, Chen built SpeakIn to verify identities through voice rather than passwords, claiming 99.5% accuracy and selling into Chinese banks and public security bureaus. He was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia in 2018.
Pleno Inc.
Pleno Inc. is a San Diego multi-omic instrument company rebuilding the economics of biological target detection. Its RAPTOR platform, powered by proprietary Hypercoding technology borrowed from telecommunications signal processing, can detect up to 10,000 targets in a single sample at PCR-like speed and cost. Founded by serial entrepreneur Pieter van Rooyen, the company is moving from R&D into commercial launch with backing from Deerfield Management and Foresite Capital.
Chin Beckmann
Chin Beckmann is the Co-Founder and CEO of DSP Concepts, the Santa Clara-based global leader in embedded audio software and creator of Audio Weaver — a platform that powers the sound systems in tens of millions of devices from Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Samsung. A concert pianist who holds degrees in Computer Engineering from Boston University and an MBA from Northeastern University, Chin co-founded DSP Concepts with her husband and CTO Paul Beckmann, building it from an audio engineering consulting firm's secret weapon into a Series C-funded company with $56.4M raised and revenue growing more than 100% since 2019. She also serves on the Audio Board of the Consumer Technology Association.
Jeremy Suard
Jeremy Suard is the Co-Founder and CEO of Exodigo, a Palo Alto-based deep tech company applying AI and multi-sensor fusion to solve one of infrastructure's oldest problems: accurately mapping what's underground before drilling through it. Born in France and raised partly in Israel, Suard served nearly eight years in Israeli Military Intelligence Unit 81, directing AI and signal processing R&D teams and becoming the most decorated technology major in the IDF. He co-founded Exodigo in 2021 with fellow IDF alumni Ido Gonen and Yogev Shifman, channeling classified sensor-fusion expertise into a commercial platform that scans the ground non-intrusively, locates 20-30% more utility lines than premium competitors, and has raised over $271 million in funding to date.
Mohammad Noshad
Mohammad Noshad is Co-Founder and CEO of Shyld AI, the company behind the world's first AI-driven autonomous UV-C disinfection system for hospitals. A Harvard-trained researcher with a PhD from the University of Virginia, Noshad pivoted from academic work in signal processing and optical communications to building technology that attacks the $50+ billion annual problem of hospital-acquired infections. Shyld AI's ceiling-mounted devices use multimodal sensors and edge AI to autonomously identify contaminated surfaces and inactivate pathogens - killing MRSA in 10 seconds from 6.5 feet away - with pilots running at Stanford Health Care and Loma Linda University Medical Center. Noshad is also co-founder of Wodio.AI and a Strategic Advisor at Field AI.
