GridMatrix is an Austin-and-San-Francisco-linked startup that turns the traffic cameras, radar, and loop detectors cities already own into a live feed of congestion, safety, and emissions data. Founded in 2021 by former Apple and Amazon operations engineers, the company sells cloud software to departments of transportation, port authorities, and campuses that would rather squeeze insight out of existing hardware than buy new sensors. It has raised just under $10 million and now runs on bridges, tunnels, and marine terminals across the country.
Guillermo Garcia
Guillermo Garcia is the co-founder and CEO of SmartHop, a Miami-based platform that acts as an autonomous dispatcher and 'business-in-a-box' for small trucking companies and owner-operators. A Venezuelan industrial engineer who started out delivering pet food, he built a bootstrapped ~500-employee logistics company back home before political and economic instability pushed him to the U.S. After studying at Columbia and running an over-the-road fleet in Miami, he founded SmartHop in 2017-2018 to give independent truckers the software, load recommendations, and financial tools that big carriers take for granted. SmartHop has raised over $56M, including a $30M+ Series B in 2022.

aifleet is an Austin-based, tech-driven trucking company that runs its own fleet on proprietary AI. Instead of selling software to carriers, it operates as a full-stack truckload carrier, using machine learning to book, price, and stack loads so trucks run fuller and drivers earn more with predictable weekly home time. The company reports roughly 40% higher truck utilization than the industry average and aims to fix the chronic inefficiency and high driver turnover that define long-haul freight.
Jozsef Kovacs
Jozsef Kovacs was the co-founder and CEO of Commsignia, the world's largest company fully dedicated to Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication technology. Born in Hungary and trained as a computer scientist and PhD researcher in cooperative intelligent transportation systems, he co-founded Commsignia in 2012 alongside fellow researchers from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Under his leadership, Commsignia deployed V2X technology across 130+ intersections in Las Vegas, secured partnerships with Volkswagen, Audi, Ford, and major OEMs, raised $26M+ in venture funding, and expanded to 20+ countries. Kovacs passed away in late 2021, leaving behind a company that continues to lead the global V2X industry.
