The clever thing about Indiana’s career recommendation tool is where you find it. You are already filing an unemployment claim. You have already supplied information. Then, inside that same system, appear suggestions for work or training. No second website. No fresh questionnaire. A difficult moment acquires a possible next step.
- Resultant connects data strategy with software, cloud infrastructure, and ongoing IT operations.
- Its customers include public agencies, healthcare organizations, and private businesses.
- Its useful lesson: design around the work people already have to do.
Resultant helped Indiana’s Department of Workforce Development build that tool, branded Pivot. It is a useful introduction to a firm whose services list can otherwise sound like a consulting directory: analytics, applications, cybersecurity, cloud, transformation. The interesting question is what happens when those specialties meet a person with a problem.
A recommendation with somewhere to go
Indiana had an unusual asset: employers’ quarterly wage reports covering 3.2 million workers. Combined with education and workforce records, those reports could reveal how people had moved between jobs. A successful transition in one person’s history might suggest a plausible route for someone else.
Resultant’s Workforce Recommendation Engine uses machine learning to turn those histories into career and training suggestions. Wages, regional openings, demand, and training requirements provide context. The user can respond to recommendations, giving the agency information about what fits. The design acknowledges that a statistical resemblance is a starting point for a conversation.
“We didn’t want to add confusion or send people out to another website.”Josh Richardson, Indiana DWD Chief of Staff
Pivot went live in November 2023. Resultant’s case study reports greater engagement than earlier email campaigns and thousands of positive responses to suggested occupations. That is evidence of attention and interest; it does not establish how many people secured lasting jobs. The distinction matters when judging an algorithm intended to improve somebody’s prospects.
The firm behind the handoff
The business began in 2008 within Indianapolis accounting firm Katz, Sapper & Miller. It added an analytics practice in 2012 and incorporated design thinking in 2014. Renovus Capital Partners bought a majority stake in 2019. Investcorp took majority ownership in 2021, with Renovus retaining a minority stake. That May, KSM Consulting became Resultant.
Those changes assembled a broader delivery business. Connect Think brought web and application development; Advocate Solutions added public-sector consulting; Tempus Nova brought Google expertise. Teknion Data Solutions followed in 2022. This history helps explain why the same firm can advise on a data problem, build an application, and manage the infrastructure underneath it.

Its commercial offer spans scoped advisory and implementation projects alongside continuing managed IT relationships. In August 2026, Resultant described that managed services practice as serving approximately 100 clients nationwide. Named customers include Indiana Health Centers, Gene B. Glick Company, and the City of Fort Wayne and Allen County.
A historical contract gives that business some financial shape: a 2021 report put the Fort Wayne and Allen County preferred IT provider agreement at $11.7 million over three years. It shows the scale of one public engagement. A city’s continuing IT needs are a different purchase from a warehouse assessment or a custom application.
The weekend nobody wanted to notice
Consider a manufacturer consolidating three acquired businesses into two locations. Its systems included unsupported equipment and aging infrastructure. The client questioned the inventory, documentation, and project management work in Resultant’s migration plan. After weighing the exposure, its operations team kept the planning safeguards.
Engineers mapped dependencies, sequenced the cutover, and prepared contingencies. Resultant says it bought spare components at its own expense and staged them at the destination. The move covered 87 virtual machines, three storage area networks, and three racks. About 20 hours after the planned Friday shutdown, the environment was operational. The spares stayed unused.
Reported client outcome · completed inside the scheduled outage
The first weakness was the legacy environment’s condition. Assessment exposed degraded components before the move. The client’s decision preserved preparation time rather than transferring uncertainty into the weekend. Readers can copy that sequence: inventory the system, identify dependencies, then decide what can safely be cut.
Advice that travels into operations
Resultant occupies the overlap between management consulting, systems integration, and outsourced IT. A buyer might compare it with West Monroe or Slalom for transformation work, a larger consultancy for a major program, or a regional managed services provider for everyday support. The relevant comparison depends on the assignment.
Its pitch is continuity across those assignments. Google Cloud, Snowflake, and Databricks partnerships support its data and platform work; its Microsoft and AWS capabilities widen the implementation choices. Google recognized its government work with Partner of the Year awards announced in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Those credentials support a shortlist, while the proposed team and delivery plan still need scrutiny.
In March 2026, Resultant announced its fifth acquisition, Liberty Advisor Group. The combination connects technology diligence and deal planning with integration, data, cybersecurity, and infrastructure execution. For private equity owners, it offers a route from identifying a problem before purchase to assigning responsibility for fixing it afterward.
Keep the person in the process
The culture has its own vocabulary: employees are “Rezzers,” and purposeful empathy is a published value. Indiana offers a concrete test of that language. Its DWD plain-language AI project keeps human verification in the workflow as it translates complex unemployment documents. The agency projects a two-year effort instead of thirteen years of manual work. The workload is 750 documents, many dense with legal terminology. A claimant who misunderstands a notice can struggle with the next step; the project addresses the language encountered along the way. Human review is part of the process, an operational choice that deserves as much attention as the chatbot itself.
There are conditions behind these examples. Career recommendations require usable linked records and permission to use them. A safe migration requires access, preparation, and an agreed outage. The practical idea to borrow is specific: put help where a decision happens, give people a way to respond, and fund the work that lets the system keep running afterward.
