The Story

One platform for the things that move, break, and matter

In 2015, two university schoolmates from Australia - Aston Chia and Zen Chin - set out to solve an unglamorous problem: most organisations have no idea where their physical assets are, how they're being used, or when they're about to fail. Overdrive IOT was their answer.

The Singapore company builds end-to-end industrial IoT. It connects things - vehicles, machinery, facilities and people - into a mesh network, then streams that activity onto a single cloud platform. From there, operators get real-time tracking, exception alerting and command-centre visualisation. The pitch is simple: automate data sensing across a whole business ecosystem, and turn scattered sensor readings into decisions someone can act on.

What makes Overdrive different is its willingness to own the entire stack. Plenty of firms sell dashboards; fewer will install the sensor, wire the connectivity, and write the software that ties it together. Overdrive does all three - hardware, connectivity and platform - which is exactly why it wins the messy, brownfield deployments that others avoid.

Overdrive has built a powerful and dynamic platform in allowing any devices and sensors to communicate with each other and with data and video capabilities.

What you can actually do with it

Platform

Overdrive IoT Platform

The core cloud system. Connects assets into a mesh network for real-time tracking, monitoring, exception alerting and command-centre visualisation.

Mobility

Fleet Management

Monitor vehicles, drivers and routes in real time to cut fuel use, prevent downtime and improve road safety.

Aviation

Airport Operations

Ground support equipment tracking, airport fleet management and runway safety - trusted by leading airports including Changi.

Facilities

Waste & Smart Toilets

Sensor-driven monitoring that optimises waste collection and keeps facilities clean, stocked and maintained.

Industrial

Equipment Monitoring

Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance that flags machinery failures before they happen.

Workforce

Personnel Tracking

Location and safety tracking for high-risk and dispersed workforces across sites.

Beyond off-the-shelf solutions, Overdrive offers software product development, API development & integration, and full-cycle IoT development for enterprises that need something bespoke.

The Problems It Solves

Why it matters

Lost equipment, unplanned downtime, blind spots in operations, safety risks for dispersed workers - these are expensive, everyday problems. Overdrive shortens the distance between a sensor reading and a decision, so the runway tug is found, the machine is fixed before it fails, and the bin is emptied on time.

Business Model

How it works

B2B enterprise IoT. Overdrive bundles sensors and hardware, connectivity, and a subscription cloud platform, plus custom development and integration services. It sells to enterprises and government clients across aviation, logistics, construction and facilities.

Where It Fits

In the market

Overdrive positions itself as a leading real-time asset monitoring provider in Asia. Alternatives include global telematics and IoT platforms such as Samsara, Geotab, Cartrack and KORE Wireless - but Overdrive's edge is doing sensors, connectivity and software together, tuned to Asian operators and messy real-world sites.
