Prakat Solutions builds for the people software forgets

A software test can pass while a person gets locked out. Prakat Solutions has built an engineering business around that gap, from accessible interfaces to the systems running behind them.

Consider a software test that passes. The page loads. The form submits. The database records the transaction. Then someone tries the same journey with a screen reader, or without a mouse, and gets stuck. Where is the defect? In the code, certainly. But also in the original definition of success. Someone decided what “working” meant before everyone had arrived.

That is a useful way into Prakat Solutions. Its service list covers familiar territory: software development, cloud migration, data engineering, billing systems. Its accessibility practice makes the list more interesting. Here is an engineering company asking whether the person at the other end of a system can actually use what has been built.

  • The work: build, test and modernize business software.
  • The distinction: accessibility treated as an engineering requirement.
  • The useful lesson: test the whole journey, including the person taking it.

01 / The cloud was the opening

Prakat’s origin story begins in 2009 with Anuradha “Anu” Biswas and an opportunity in cloud computing. Small and medium businesses needed help moving beyond fixed IT assets and legacy frameworks. The company she founded would help make that transition. The initial problem was practical: businesses had systems, and those systems were becoming constraints.

Today, Biswas remains founder and CEO. The leadership team also identifies CTO Abhik Biswas and adviser Rajnish Thakur as co-founders. Prakat’s own account places software testing at its roots. That background matters because testing teaches a particular habit: take an apparently successful result and ask what conditions would make it fail.

02 / The keyboard gets a vote

Prakat’s accessibility offer goes beyond running a scanner. It describes manual audits, screen-reader testing, switch devices and voice control. It offers component libraries, engineering training and prioritized remediation plans. The proposed workflow puts accessibility requirements beside functional requirements, then revisits them as products change.

There is a useful distinction here. An automated check can flag a missing label. A person navigating a service has to understand the label, reach the control and complete the task. Prakat sells engineering work across that journey. Buyers can borrow the underlying question immediately: which users and methods of interaction does the acceptance test include?

The inclusion effort also reaches outside client delivery. Prakat’s 2022 Global Accessibility Awareness Day announcement described a free online event organized with EqualGenius Foundation and partners. It recalled work with Mitra Jyothi, an organization supporting people with disabilities. The pandemic pushed an earlier event online; the organizers subsequently widened the collaboration.

“We believe in what we do; we do what we love.”

03 / Keep the systems. Fix the conversation.

One of Prakat’s clearest project accounts concerns healthcare data in India. Individual state systems held their own information. The task was to connect them with the national Integrated Health Information Platform, or IHIP. Prakat says it engineered the interoperability layer so those existing systems could exchange data.

The interesting decision is architectural: preserve the systems and improve the exchange between them. For a buyer contemplating modernization, this changes the opening question. Before asking what to replace, ask where information stops moving. The troublesome boundary may be between applications that still perform useful work.

A second case describes analytics and machine learning for a major Indian electricity utility, aimed at operational efficiency and cost and revenue decisions. Together, these examples place Prakat in the infrastructure behind services people depend on. The work includes data quality, integration and governance long before anyone admires a dashboard.

04 / Specialists need other specialists

Prakat serves organizations in finance, healthcare, energy, manufacturing and retail. Its published client list includes Oracle, Intuit, SAP and the World Health Organization. Those names establish the company’s claimed customer range; they do not imply that every customer buys every practice.

Its partnerships show how it extends expertise. In April 2021, Prakat announced a Dragonchain relationship for blockchain business workflows. In July, it announced a ValueQwest partnership for supply-chain transformation. The latter began with building a pool of technology specialists who understood supply chains. Domain knowledge was part of the delivery problem.

The current AI practice follows a related logic: assess the use case and data, prove it with a prototype, engineer production delivery, then monitor and govern it. Prakat advertises private AI controls and model testing. Its BizonAI offering takes another route, packaging marketing and productivity tools for small businesses into a monthly subscription.

There is plenty of conventional enterprise work alongside those offers. Billing engagements cover metering, invoicing and revenue assurance. Data services address pipelines, quality and governance. Software teams stay involved through development and testing. For buyers comparing providers, the relevant unit is the specific assignment: which systems, which data, which operational responsibility?

Prakat’s AI process also makes a practical demand of the customer. A prototype runs against real data with agreed measures. Production brings monitoring, cost controls and human review where needed. That sequence gives a team several chances to question an attractive demonstration before it becomes an expensive dependency.

05 / Contracts have an ending

The core business sells engineering services and consulting. That makes customer continuity commercially important. Dalrada acquired 72% of Prakat in January 2020 for 3.6 million shares, reported at a consideration fair value of $162,000. That historical transaction figure is separate from the price of commissioning a software project.

The parent’s amended annual report puts Prakat’s fiscal 2024 revenue at about $1.37 million, down 33% as several contracts ended. A recognizable customer list cannot remove that exposure. Project businesses have to replace completed work, deepen existing relationships or develop other revenue streams.

06 / Borrow the test

For a prospective customer, Prakat fits the space between specialist testing firms, accessibility consultancies and broader modernization providers. Its proposition is the ability to connect those disciplines within an engagement. The sensible buying exercise is to choose a real journey and require evidence: a usable interface, a successful data exchange, a reproducible test.

The approach needs cooperation. An integration team needs access to systems and usable data. Accessibility findings need someone authorized to fix them. An AI prototype needs success measures before it becomes a production commitment. Without those conditions, hiring engineering capacity leaves the original bottleneck intact.

Prakat means “to manifest” or “make appear” in Sanskrit. For a company with this testing heritage, that is an appealing assignment: make the hidden obstacle visible, then give an engineer something specific to repair.
