An applicant tracking system has an obvious problem when nobody applies. It can file, sort and score with impeccable efficiency. The vacancy remains vacant. For a small employer, the missing ingredient may be something less technical: an advertisement worth reading, a manageable application, or a person with enough time to chase the work through.
That gap helps explain isolved Talent Acquisition, the business formerly called ApplicantPro. Its offering includes the expected recruiting software. It also includes people who help attract and screen applicants. The combination deserves attention because it recognizes how hiring actually lands on the desk of someone who already has another job to do.
- Software organizes the hiring process; optional services help feed it.
- The main audience is small and mid-sized employers.
- The March 2025 rebrand preserved a standalone buying option.
The software needed another pair of hands
Founder Ryan Kohler came from accounting and web marketing. In his 2024 retrospective, he described building the early platform with part-time programmer Heather Wells. Getting conventional financing proved difficult. Annual prepayments from customers and resellers helped keep the business going.

The more interesting adjustment concerned the buyer. Kohler came to see reluctance among small-business HR teams as a problem of trust. Trials and month-to-month contracts gave customers a way to judge the software. Later, the company bundled services such as job-ad writing with the product. Those were historical choices, rather than a promise about today’s contract terms.

There is a recognizable business insight here. A tool transfers capability to a customer, but using it still takes time and judgment. A smaller company may have neither to spare. Selling help alongside the tool makes sense when the obstacle is getting the work done.
A shorter route to the hiring manager
The applicant tracking system gathers candidate information, supports screening and gives managers a shared place to evaluate applicants. Text and email conversations stay in the system. Interview scheduling and integrated assessments help move the process toward a decision. Unlimited user access lets the employer involve managers without buying a separate seat for each one.

Further upstream, branded career sites and a two-step application address the moment before someone becomes a candidate. A job seeker who has found an opening still has to finish applying. Application design belongs in the recruiting conversation because every extra demand arrives before the employer has earned much commitment.
“Before isolved Talent Acquisition we were only getting applicants that knew to come directly to our website.”
Wendy Herzog, Thanksgiving Point
Customer testimonial published by the company
Herzog’s account on the company website describes job distribution bringing candidates from other sites. It illustrates the distinction between managing existing interest and creating more of it. The company’s Indeed partnership reaches across that boundary: Indeed Apply connects applications, while Disposition Sync sends application-status changes back to Indeed.

A workflow diagram, not a promise of hiring results.
In September 2025, isolved announced an Indeed Talent Scout integration and said it was one of two selected partners worldwide. The announcement described alpha customers and a waitlist. Its practical appeal was sourcing assistance: finding candidates, refining matches and helping write outreach, including for people who had never applied.
The price of doing it yourself
Full-Service Hiring offers help writing ads and curating applicants. Recruitment Marketing goes further into audience analysis, messaging and monthly performance reviews. This is an operational service, with repeated adjustments after launch. The expertise being sold is partly knowing how to advertise a job and partly having someone available to keep improving the advertisement.
How much does that cost? The official pricing page asks for a quote based on employee count and the feature package. It advertises no setup fees, free training and free support. Capterra lists a Basic starting price of $99 a month, but that directory figure should not be mistaken for the price of a current service bundle.
The useful comparison is therefore broader than subscription against subscription. Consider who will write the ads, answer candidates and review the results. A low software bill can leave a large amount of work sitting with an already busy employee. Equally, paying for a service only helps if the employer supplies clear requirements and acts on suitable candidates.
For buyers, the choices run from an HR platform with recruiting, such as BambooHR, to specialized recruiting software and sourcing services. isolved’s proposition is the ability to buy software and operational help together. That deserves a place on the shortlist when the employer’s shortage is recruiting capacity as well as applicants.
A bigger system, with the door left open
On March 24, 2025, isolved announced the full integration of ApplicantPro into its brand and business. It said it had already been the parent for nearly a decade. Customers could still buy standalone talent acquisition or connect it to People Cloud’s HR, payroll and benefits. The rename made an existing relationship more visible.
The larger ambition is continuity after the offer. In March 2026, isolved announced Lighthouse Technology Awards finalist recognition for talent intelligence, citing Attract & Hire among the capabilities involved. The argument was that information gathered during recruiting should carry into onboarding and employee development.
There are limits to what that connection can accomplish. Better distribution cannot make an unappealing wage attractive. Automated screening still needs sensible criteria. A candidate waiting for a manager’s answer remains waiting, however tidy the pipeline looks.
The idea an employer can borrow is straightforward: trace the vacancy backward. Is the problem reaching people, persuading them to apply, evaluating them, or making a decision? ApplicantPro built a business across those gaps. Its successor gives employers a choice about how much of that work they want help doing.
