In August 2023, TrueBuilt closed a $4 million seed round led by Bienville Capital, with real-estate-tech fund Fifth Wall joining in. The most telling name on the cap table, though, was Marek - a leading construction firm that was already a TrueBuilt customer. TrueBuilt is not a giant. It is roughly eighteen people, one seed round, and a very specific idea about where construction wastes its nights. But it has done the thing good products do: it found an unloved corner of a huge industry and made the 9 p.m. desk a little less lonely. The lights, for once, are off.
