Tuyen Ong
Tuyen Ong is a physician-turned-biotech executive who spent four years as CEO of Ring Therapeutics, the Flagship Pioneering company trying to turn anelloviruses - harmless viruses that already live in nearly everyone - into a redosable delivery system for genetic medicines. Trained as an ophthalmologist at University College London with an MBA from NYU Stern, he built his career on gene therapy for rare eye disease at Nightstar, Biogen, PTC, Bausch & Lomb and Pfizer before betting on a virus most scientists had written off as biological junk. In 2025 he co-founded PharmasMarket, a drug-development consultancy.
Geoffrey von Maltzahn
Geoffrey von Maltzahn is the co-founder and CEO of Lila Sciences, a Cambridge company building what it calls scientific superintelligence: AI plus robotic labs that run the scientific method autonomously. A general partner at Flagship Pioneering, he has founded or co-founded a string of companies including Generate:Biomedicines, Tessera Therapeutics, Indigo Agriculture, Sana Biotechnology, Seres Therapeutics and Quotient Therapeutics, which together carry more than $10 billion in market value. He holds a PhD from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology and is named on more than 200 patents.
Jack Milwid
Jack Milwid is a scientist-turned-company-builder who sits in the Office of the CEO at Lila Sciences, the Flagship Pioneering venture chasing 'scientific superintelligence' through autonomous AI-run laboratories. A materials engineer with a Harvard-MIT PhD, he has spent his career founding biotech companies from scratch - among them Sana Biotechnology, Neon Therapeutics, Cobalt Biomedicine and Kaleido Biosciences - and co-founded the investment firm Related Sciences. His trademark is turning early science into operating companies.
Jason Gardner
Jason Gardner is the CEO of Ampersand Biomedicines and a CEO-Partner at Flagship Pioneering, where he leads a Boston-area biotech programming biologic medicines that act only at the site of disease. A Cambridge- and Oxford-trained scientist turned operator, he previously co-founded and ran Magenta Therapeutics through its IPO and spent years building GSK's Regenerative Medicine Unit. He is betting that the next generation of drugs will not just be potent but precise - going exactly where they are needed and nowhere else.
Jordi Mata-Fink
Jordi Mata-Fink is the co-founder and CEO of Gate Bioscience, a Brisbane, California biotech building an entirely new class of small-molecule drugs called Molecular Gates. The idea is deceptively simple and technically audacious: instead of chasing disease-causing proteins after they leave the cell, Gate's molecules park inside the cell's secretory channel (Sec61) and selectively stop a single harmful protein from ever getting out, while letting everything else pass. A chemical engineer trained at Stanford and MIT, Mata-Fink spent years inside Flagship Pioneering helping spin up companies like Editas and Rubius before founding Gate in 2021. The company emerged from stealth in 2023 with $60M, and in November 2025 raised an oversubscribed $65M Series B led by Forbion with Eli Lilly joining, pushing total funding to $135M as it heads toward the clinic. He coaches youth soccer on the side.
Vishal Patel
Vishal Patel is the co-founder and CEO of Triveni Bio, a Watertown, Massachusetts biotech betting that genetics, not trial-and-error, should decide which antibodies reach patients with immune and inflammatory diseases. He stitched the company together from a two-startup merger, raised more than $200 million across Series A and B rounds, and pointed its lead programs at the skin enzymes behind atopic dermatitis. A Harvard PhD and MIT MBA who once helped draft healthcare legislation on Capitol Hill and still serves as a US Navy reservist, Patel runs a lab while keeping a foot in venture as an Atlas advisor.
Yasir Al-Wakeel
Yasir Al-Wakeel is a physician turned biotech operator who in September 2025 became CEO of Vesalius Therapeutics and a CEO-Partner at Flagship Pioneering. Trained as a doctor at Oxford with a theology degree from Cambridge, he spent a decade structuring more than $30 billion in life-science deals before running finance and strategy at companies like Merrimack, Neon Therapeutics and Kronos Bio. At Vesalius he is betting that many common diseases are actually clusters of genetically distinct conditions waiting to be redefined.
Howard Davis
Howard Davis, Ph.D., is the CEO of Akamis Bio, a clinical-stage oncology company in Cambridge, Massachusetts building tumor gene therapies on its proprietary T-SIGn platform. A chemical engineer turned biomedical engineer, he spent two decades moving between Boston Consulting Group, Novartis, Biogen, Flagship Pioneering and Atlas Venture before taking the top job at the company once known as PsiOxus. His current mission: prove that an adenoviral therapy delivered through a vein - not a needle into the tumor - can reach metastatic cancer the body has hidden, and turn those tumors against themselves.

Margo Georgiadis is CEO-Partner at Flagship Pioneering and co-founder & CEO of Montai Therapeutics, a biotech company using AI to discover drugs from natural compounds humans have consumed for centuries.
