JUL 2026: BANK OF AMERICA TRAVEL CENTER POWERED BY ROCKET TRAVELLOYALTY MEETS THE BOOKING ENGINE

Company / Rocket Travel by Agoda

The room is the same. The reward changes everything.

Rocket Travel by Agoda turns hotel bookings into reasons to stay loyal. Behind the familiar names of banks, airlines and retailers sits a business built around one useful idea: make the reward worth the trip.

A hotel room has a peculiar problem. Once tonight has passed, an empty room is worth nothing. Yet advertising a cheaper price can teach tomorrow’s guests to wait for the next discount. Rocketmiles, the business that became Rocket Travel by Agoda, offered a neat way around that tension: keep the room attractive by adding something the traveler wanted elsewhere. Airline miles. The guest was buying a night in one city and collecting a small piece of a future trip.

THE QUICK CHECK-IN
  • Builds travel booking sites for banks, airlines and loyalty brands.
  • Connects hotel supply with points, miles, cashback and redemption.
  • Provides the technology and operations behind another brand’s experience.

A hotel room with a second destination

Created in 2012 by Jay Hoffmann, Bjorn Larsen and Kris Helenek, Rocketmiles launched publicly in 2013. Hoffmann had worked at United’s MileagePlus and Groupon. The early proposition brought those worlds together: an incentive valuable to the customer that hotels could offer without publicly marking down their rooms.

There was money behind the experiment. The company raised $2 million in its first external round in April 2013, followed by a $6.5 million Series A announced in January 2014. That is $8.5 million of early financing. The later round funded customer acquisition and expansion into international markets. It was capital for growing the business, rather than a price tag for building a partner’s travel site.

From selling rooms to building the shop

The Priceline Group, now Booking Holdings, acquired Rocketmiles in 2015. Rocket Travel joined forces with Agoda in 2019; the Rocket Travel by Agoda identity arrived in 2022. Those dates describe a widening business. A consumer site that rewarded hotel bookings became part of the machinery other companies use to sell travel.

Today it is Agoda’s strategic partnerships arm. Its white-label platform puts a partner’s brand around a booking experience and connects that experience to the partner’s rewards rules. Customers can earn or redeem loyalty currency; partners can configure pricing, promotions and member segments. The familiar name on the screen might belong to an airline or bank.

There are other entrances. An accommodation API supplies inventory to businesses building their own interface. Affiliate partners can send customers to Agoda and receive booking commissions. Agoda Supply Network distributes suppliers’ inventory across travel channels. Chain wholesale tools help hotel groups monitor where rates go, while Agoda Media Solutions sells access to travelers through advertising.

This puts Rocket Travel between travel supply and businesses with customer relationships. Expedia Group’s White Label Travel Platform is a direct alternative, also supporting loyalty earning and redemption. Rocket Travel’s pitch combines configurable loyalty technology, Booking Holdings supply and ongoing operational support. Buyers have to judge the combination against their particular program.

The supplier side has its own version of the same problem: a hotel wants more distribution without losing control of its price. Rocket Travel’s wholesale offering includes a live portal, rate-shopping information and test-booking data to reveal where rates appear. Hotel groups can act on violations and target particular distribution partners with campaigns. For a hotel operator, this is a different purchase from a loyalty storefront. The shared concern is control over how a room reaches a customer, and under what terms.

Grocery points, meet hotel keys

Nectar makes the proposition tangible. Its members earn points through everyday shopping; Nectar Hotels gives those points another destination. Rocket Travel built a branded hotel platform with earning and redemption integrated into the experience. Nectar contributed its understanding of members. Rocket Travel supplied travel technology and inventory. The teams then worked together on targeted promotions.

Rocket Travel’s case study reports bookings up 298% and partner commissions up 480% between 2020 and 2025. Those are company-reported results for one partnership. The starting year matters: 2020 was a pandemic year. The comparison cannot isolate what the platform caused. The more transferable detail is the work: a familiar brand, usable points and a promotion calendar that continues after launch.

ShopBack illustrates a lighter approach. Its members follow a referral to Agoda to complete their booking. A post-booking API supports commission and cashback tracking. The customer’s reward depends on a transaction being recognized after the customer has left the shopping platform. That small technical detail carries a large share of the promise.

The unglamorous part is the product

A travel storefront also needs help when a reservation changes. Rocket Travel offers 24/7 customer support and analytics dashboards covering bookings, cancellations, revenue and points earned or redeemed. These functions matter because the partner is lending its reputation to a transaction fulfilled across several businesses. A polished search page is only the beginning.

Measurement also changes what the partner can ask. A dashboard that separates cancellations, points redemption and booking revenue allows a more precise conversation than a single sales total. Did a promotion produce reservations that stayed booked? Did members use their rewards? Which customer segment responded? Rocket Travel says its analytics can track promotion performance, conversion and segmentation, with dashboards also available as datasets. The implication for buyers is straightforward: decide which behavior matters before choosing the number that will announce success to everyone else.

Steve Brockett, SVP Product. The official team spans product, engineering, partnerships, marketing and customer operations. Travel technology has plenty of human moving parts.

The company’s careers page puts the operating philosophy plainly: “Be a scientist, experiment and measure.” It also emphasizes ownership, efficiency and direct feedback. That is the employer’s stated culture. For a partner, the useful question is whether the working relationship produces measurable improvements after the launch celebration is over.

A bank becomes a travel storefront

The model’s current reach is visible in banking. Citi’s travel portal launched in March 2023 with Rocket Travel technology. In July 2026, Bank of America announced an enhanced Travel Center powered by the company, with expanded inventory, improved search and payment options combining rewards with a card. Access and redemption choices vary by card product.

The lesson for another business is practical: start with an audience whose trust you already have, then choose how much of the travel experience you need to operate. An affiliate referral and a fully branded portal solve different problems. Neither makes an unattractive total price or confusing reward compelling. The reward has to survive comparison shopping, checkout and the moment a customer needs help. That is where a future trip becomes a reason to return.
