The Dispatch

A travel agency that writes its own code

Plover sits in an unusual spot in corporate travel. It is a full-service travel management company, the kind that books flights and staffs a call centre - and it is also the software vendor behind the tools those bookings run on.

Founded in Singapore in 2017 as Plover Trip Pte. Ltd., the company set out to make business travel "simple, cost effective and safe." Most travel management companies license their booking and expense technology from third parties. Plover chose the harder path: it built and owns its platform, then offers it on a software-as-a-service basis both to corporate clients and, notably, to other travel agencies in the region.

That decision shapes everything downstream. Because Plover controls its own code, it has been able to extend past the trip itself - first into expense management, then into workspace management for the hybrid-work era. The result, in the company's words, is "Asia's first fully integrated corporate travel, expense and workspace platform." At the centre sits the cloud-based Plover Platform, which threads the individual apps into a company's mid- and back-office systems.

The company is small - roughly 36 people - but it is run by a team that says it carries more than 70 years of cumulative experience across global travel management companies, hotel chains and technology firms. Its CEO, Eugene Chan, held senior roles at Amadeus, BCD Travel and Carlson Wagonlit Travel before starting Plover.

We believe corporate travel and business productivity should be simple, cost effective and safe.

How It's Different

Owning the stack, and the content

Two things set Plover apart from a typical regional agency. The first is ownership: it runs on a platform it built, not one it rents. The second is content. Plover offers NDC and Direct Connect airline content directly through the Plover Platform - including AirAsia, British Airways, Emirates, Jetstar, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and Scoot - alongside direct hotel inventory from Booking.com and aggregator Hotelbeds (BedsOnline). That gives travelers access to a wide range of fares and more than 28 million properties from one booking flow.

The integration story is the differentiator that competitors with a single product cannot easily match. A trip booked in Plover Travel flows into approvals, into expense capture, into reporting - and, for hybrid teams, alongside the desk and meeting-room booking that Safe@Work handles. For a CFO, that means fewer disconnected systems and a single view of spend.

Our platform makes it easy to scale as your business grows.
Market Position

A regional specialist in a giant's arena

Plover competes in a market dominated by global names, but it plays a focused, regional game.

Corporate travel and expense software is crowded with large players - SAP Concur, Navan, TravelPerk, Egencia - and legacy travel management companies such as BCD Travel, CWT and American Express Global Business Travel. Plover's answer is not to out-scale them but to out-fit them for Asia Pacific: local content, local support from a Singapore-based call centre, and an integrated travel-expense-workspace bundle aimed at companies that want one vendor rather than three.

Its stated ambition reaches further than its size suggests. The company's vision is "to be a global leader in providing corporate travel management and related technology services" - built out from a Singapore base and a values set that names integrity, teamwork and sustainability, including greener travel choices to help reduce clients' carbon footprint.
