The quiet layer behind your support call is a knowledge problem

An AI knowledge management platform that gives customer experience teams one place to find, follow and share the right answer across every channel.

Call any large company with a problem and you set off a small, invisible race. Somewhere on the other end, an agent has seconds to find the one paragraph, buried in a manual nobody has read cover to cover, that actually answers your question. Get it right and you hang up satisfied. Get it wrong - or get an answer that contradicts what a different agent told you last week - and the whole thing sours. Knowmax, a company from Gurugram, India, has built its entire business around that few-second gap.

On paper Knowmax is an AI-powered knowledge management platform for customer experience teams. In plainer terms: it is the place a support agent looks things up. It takes the scattered mess of standard operating procedures, help articles, product manuals and troubleshooting steps that pile up inside a big company, and turns them into one searchable source of truth - one that a human agent, a chatbot and a self-service help page all read from at the same time.

The pitch sounds unglamorous next to the noise around AI agents and copilots. That is rather the point. Knowmax's founding bet is that no amount of clever automation fixes a support operation whose underlying knowledge is a swamp. Clean the knowledge first, then let the machines run on it.

01 / ORIGINBuilt on the call center floor

Knowmax did not start as a startup idea on a whiteboard. It started as an internal fix. Its parent, KocharTech, is a contact-center BPO with a workforce measured in the thousands - the kind of operation that answers other companies' phones and chats for a living. When you run support at that scale, the cost of a wrong answer is not abstract. It is measured in repeat calls, escalations and churn.

The tooling on the market did not solve it well enough, so KocharTech built its own knowledge system for its agents, then spun it out as a product other companies could buy. The founders listed on the company are Jitender Jain, who founded KocharTech, and Yatharth Jain, who runs Knowmax as CEO. The origin shows up in the product: it is designed by people who watched agents fumble through documents in real time, not by engineers imagining what a support desk might need.

That lineage is also the company's clearest form of expertise. Yatharth Jain describes the goal as making knowledge a genuine advantage for CX teams rather than a filing problem, and the roots trace back roughly a quarter-century of contact-center work inside the Kochar group. Knowmax now sits in a family of related products - the Maxicus business-process platform, the LeapMax productivity tool, DeviceMax for mobile device management - each aimed at a different slice of the same operations problem. Knowmax is the piece that owns what an agent actually knows.

The most expensive moment in a contact center is an agent confidently giving the wrong answer. Knowmax exists to remove it.

02 / THE PRODUCTNot a wiki - a set of guardrails

A generic wiki dumps articles into a search box and hopes for the best. Knowmax's distinctive features are the ones that stop an agent from guessing. The headline example is its decision trees, which the company calls Flows: instead of handing an agent a forty-page SOP, it turns that document into an interactive, no-code path the agent clicks through, question by question, until the system lands on the correct resolution. There is no reading comprehension involved, and far less room to improvise.

Alongside those sit visual guides - step-by-step, picture-based how-tos for things like configuring a router or processing a return - plus support articles, bulk-uploaded FAQs, and an intent-aware AI search that tries to understand what an agent means rather than matching keywords. The 2025 addition, branded MaxAI, pushes into agentic territory: it reads the context of a live call or chat, works out the customer's intent, and surfaces the relevant knowledge card or next-best-action mid-conversation. Say "I want to close my account" and it can prompt the agent with retention steps before they have finished typing.

There is a second, quieter half to MaxAI aimed at the people who maintain all this content. A knowledge base only stays useful if it stays current, and keeping thousands of articles fresh is its own grind. Knowmax's AI tooling generates and refines drafts, summarizes long documents, converts existing support articles into FAQs and quizzes, and translates content into more than 25 languages. It will also take a raw SOP and propose a decision-tree structure automatically, which shortens the least glamorous job in any knowledge team: getting the source material into a usable shape in the first place.

The same content, once structured, does double duty. A decision tree written for an agent can power a self-service page a customer walks through alone, and feed a chatbot the exact steps it should follow. That reuse is where the company's claim of roughly 60% ticket deflection comes from - not a separate self-service product bolted on later, but the same knowledge pointed at a different audience.

2StructureLong procedures become click-through decision trees and visual guides.
3SurfaceIntent-aware search and MaxAI push the right card into the moment.
4DistributeThe same knowledge feeds agents, bots and self-service, every channel.

How one source of truth reaches four places at once.

03 / THE NUMBERSWhat customers say it moves

Knowmax leans hard on outcome metrics, and the figures it publishes cluster around the same theme: less time lost, fewer mistakes, faster ramp-up. Treat them as vendor-reported rather than audited, but they describe the problem the product is aimed at.

The client roster reads like a cross-section of industries where support volume is punishing. Telecom and connectivity names appear heavily - Vodafone, Starlink, STC, Dialog Axiata, Ooredoo - alongside retail and fintech such as Walmart, Zepto, Pine Labs and Majid Al Futtaim, plus the NBA and BPO peer Concentrix. These are organizations with millions of interactions and, crucially, a strong incentive to keep every agent saying the same thing.

That customer profile also explains the company's investment in compliance. Knowmax states it holds GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA certifications - the checklist an enterprise procurement team runs before a knowledge platform is allowed near customer data in banking or healthcare. For this market, a certification badge is not marketing garnish; it is the price of entry.

Why do three agents answer one question three different ways? No single source of truth. That is the whole problem in a sentence. The Knowmax thesis

05 / THE MARKETA crowded, unglamorous corner

Knowledge management for customer experience is not an empty field. Knowmax competes with Guru, Bloomfire, Leena AI, Stonly, eGain and the knowledge modules built into Zendesk and Salesforce, among others. Its differentiation is less about having features nobody else has and more about specialization: it is built for CX and contact-center work specifically, with decision trees and visual guides as first-class citizens rather than afterthoughts, and it arrives with the instincts of a company that ran a call center itself.

Where it fits in the market is as the knowledge layer beneath the flashier front-of-house tools. Chatbots, voice IVRs and agent-assist copilots all need something authoritative to draw from. Knowmax's argument is that it can be that authoritative source - one repository feeding the bot, the self-service page and the human at the desk, so the answer stays consistent no matter how the customer chooses to reach in.

06 / BUSINESSHow it makes money

The model is straightforward enterprise SaaS: subscription licensing, generally priced per agent or seat, with tiers by module and volume, plus implementation and integration work. Knowmax plugs into the surrounding stack rather than replacing it, with integrations across Genesys, Talkdesk, Freshworks, Zendesk and Salesforce, and a presence on contact-center app marketplaces. Being part of the wider KocharTech suite - which includes the Maxicus BPM platform and the LeapMax productivity tool - gives it a built-in channel and a reference customer in its own parent.

Where Knowmax sits in the CX stack

Knowledge layer — KNOWMAX (search · trees · guides · MaxAI)

There is a broader lesson tucked inside the Knowmax story, and it is worth stealing. A company with a real, expensive problem at scale built the tool it could not buy, ran it on its own operation until it worked, and only then sold it to everyone else with the same pain. Internal tools that survive that trial by fire tend to make unusually credible products.

None of this makes knowledge management exciting. It makes it load-bearing. The next time a support agent finds your answer in a beat instead of putting you on hold, there is a decent chance something like Knowmax is doing the quiet work underneath.
