The fitness band had done its job. It had counted the steps, recorded the activity and produced the numbers. For Vishal Gondal, something was still missing. As launch coverage described it in 2014, he had tried the gadgets; a physical coach was what began to make a difference. That observation became GOQii’s founding proposition. A number on a wrist could describe a life. Someone had to help its owner change it.
- The offer: health tracking paired with a personal coach.
- The business: paid plans, bundled devices and partnerships.
- The lesson: build the follow-up into the product.
The coach came first
Gondal came from games. He had founded Indiagames before starting GOQii in 2014. His new company put a familiar game-design problem inside a health service: how do you give somebody a reason to return? The answer involved a wristband, an app, a coach and an unusually moral reward system. Activity could earn Karma Points, which supported charitable causes through a launch-era partnership with Oxfam India.
The original band also allowed a coach to send a remote vibration to the wearer. Consider the small social trick involved. A vibrating gadget could be a reminder from a machine, easily ignored. This one could represent a person paying attention. GOQii was putting a relationship inside an object usually sold on its sensors.
“I needed something more than data”

The price of being noticed
The pricing made the argument concrete. Business Today reported in February 2015 that three months cost ₹3,999, six months ₹6,999 and a year ₹11,999. The band came with the service. Calling the hardware free made sense only if you understood that the relationship was what you were buying. This was a subscription business with a device attached.
The current menu is broader. When checked in October 2026, GOQii’s plans page advertised annual Lifestyle Management at ₹12,999, including a tracker, unlimited coach chat and two audio or video calls each month. Diabetes Management was ₹19,999 annually, with a tracker, glucometer and two HbA1c tests. SuperLife, its longevity program, asked prospective members to request a quote. These are advertised offers, with different inclusions, rather than interchangeable tracker prices.
Lifestyle Management: tracker + coach chat + two calls per month.
Advertised price checked 25 October 2026. Offers may change.A member connects tracking and personal logs to a coaching conversation about food, movement, sleep and goals. The app supplies continuity between conversations. That can help someone who needs structure and encouragement more than another chart. It also asks something of the customer: logging, syncing and replying. Buying accountability does not remove the work of participating.

A game with consequences
Karma Points gave exercise an audience beyond the wearer. Later incentives made the reward more personal. GOQii Cash, introduced in 2018, could earn discounts in the company’s health store. In March 2022, GOQii announced an Animoca Brands collaboration around blockchain tokens and a proposed health metaverse. The mechanism kept changing; the recurring question was how to make the next healthy action attractive.
Insurance brought that question into household finances. An August 2022 Kotak announcement offered eligible Smart Vital 2.0 customers health cover of up to ₹5 lakh, dependent on activity and a monthly health score, plus ₹1 lakh in life cover. Activation and renewal conditions applied. GOQii supplied the engagement layer; insurance came through the named insurance partners. The distinction matters when a wellness purchase also promises financial protection.

When the band gets in the way
A relationship delivered through hardware inherits hardware’s annoyances. My Mobile’s October 2016 review found that syncing took unusually long and that the step counter sometimes overcounted. The reviewer still saw value in getting human guidance alongside the data. This is the awkward bargain in connected coaching: the service depends on a chain of small technical operations working often enough to become forgettable.
GOQii’s own Smart Vital troubleshooting page describes interrupted syncing and Bluetooth pairing problems. Its appeal therefore depends partly on tolerance for that maintenance. Someone seeking only an activity count can compare ordinary trackers. Someone wanting personal attention can compare independent coaches or nutrition services. GOQii occupies the space between those purchases. Its usefulness depends on whether the combination fits the person’s routines.
Beyond the wrist
The company has pushed that combination beyond individual consumers. It announced UK patient-care operations with Modality Partnership in August 2023, targeting lifestyle and condition management. Employers and insurers also appear among its intended customers. The commercial logic is straightforward: organizations have reasons to pay for sustained engagement, while a consumer can decide that a wearable is enough.

Expansion needed capital. GOQii announced $50 million in February 2022 across equity, preference shares, notes and debt, followed by a $10 million equity extension from Animoca in March. Those announcements describe financing, rather than proof that the model pays for itself. Inc42 reports that the Indian operating company’s FY2024 total revenue fell to ₹30.1 crore from ₹58.4 crore, with a ₹23.7 crore net loss. Those figures concern that entity, not necessarily the whole group.
Today, the language reaches toward longevity. GOQii Sanjeevini appears among the Top 40 teams in the XPRIZE Healthspan 2025 qualified-teams book. Selection is a research milestone, not evidence that a subscription extends life. GOQii’s own terms distinguish coaching from medical advice. The more transferable idea remains modest: attach a person to a signal, make the next action clear and follow up. A step counter can end its job at midnight. A coaching business has to be useful again in the morning.
