The Dispatch

The company that decided healthcare's front door was still the phone

When Chetan Reddy brought his wife to the United States for spinal surgery, he expected the hard part to be the medicine. It was not. "I spent 80% of the time she was in hospital making phone calls and filling in forms, rather than at her bedside," he has said. The care was excellent; the administration around it swallowed his attention.

That experience became Confido Health. Founded in 2023 with co-founder and Chief Product Officer Vichar Shroff, the New York company builds AI voice and messaging agents that answer patient phone calls for healthcare providers - the unglamorous, high-volume work that clogs every medical front desk.

The pitch is narrow on purpose. Most healthcare AI aims at diagnosis or clinical notes. Confido aimed at the ringing phone: the appointment that needs rescheduling, the refill request, the insurance question, the balance that needs paying. Its agents pick up on the first ring, authenticate the caller, check eligibility and resolve the request end-to-end, handing off to human staff only when a case genuinely needs it.

The bet has paid off quickly. In roughly eight months the platform grew from 150,000 to more than one million patients served, and in September 2025 it raised a $10M Series A led by Blume Ventures - bringing total funding to about $13M.

Phones remain the front door of healthcare. We want to make sure they open instantly, every time.

The Problem & The Fix

Why the front desk breaks - and how Confido rebuilds it

The old front desk

  • Phone trees and long hold times
  • Staff pulled off care to answer calls
  • Missed calls become missed revenue
  • Hiring for admin roles is hard; burnout is high
  • Requests span disconnected legacy systems

The Confido agent

  • Answers on the first ring, 24/7
  • Authenticates the caller and checks eligibility
  • Books, refills, refers, collects payment, follows up
  • Warm-transfers only complex edge cases to staff
  • Writes every interaction back to the EHR/PMS

Business Model

B2B SaaS for providers

Confido sells to clinics, dental practices, specialty groups, FQHCs and hospitals. Value is framed around reduced call-center labor, faster access, more follow-up encounters and recovered revenue - with go-live in under 30 days and minimal staff effort. Its edge, co-founders say, is integrating with legacy systems rather than forcing a rip-and-replace.

Our ability to create AI that seamlessly integrates with legacy systems turns fragmented data into actionable workflows in real time.

Where It Fits

A crowded race for the patient front door

Confido sits in the emerging category of healthcare voice AI, competing with startups such as Hyro and Assort Health and with broader conversational-AI players targeting the medical front desk. The incumbent alternative is the oldest one: human-staffed call centers and answering services. Confido's differentiator is finishing the task - authenticating, checking eligibility and writing back to the record - rather than merely deflecting a caller to a form or a callback queue. That its Series A drew participation from operators at Innovaccer and Memora Health, plus its own customers, signals ecosystem confidence in the voice-first thesis.
