ScaleNorth
stays for
the close.

Getting NetSuite live is one job. Running the books inside it is another. ScaleNorth has built a business around doing both.

VivoAquatics could monitor the chemistry of a swimming pool from a distance. Understanding the chemistry of its own business was harder. The California company sold software, equipment and services, held inventory, and sent people into the field. QuickBooks Enterprise handled accounting. Salesforce handled customer relationships. Other applications filled the gaps. Together, they offered too little insight into how the business actually made money.

THE QUICK READ
  • Implements NetSuite and can run the accounting inside it.
  • Serves growing businesses and private equity portfolios.
  • Sells project work, monthly support and outsourced finance.

Then an investor intervened. After Level Equity provided Series A funding, it encouraged VivoAquatics to rethink its financial infrastructure. The problem was its capacity to support the next stage of growth. A business built to give customers better information needed better information about itself.

That is where ScaleNorth enters the story. Its proposition joins two purchases that companies can make separately: installing Oracle NetSuite and hiring the people who keep the financial operation running. The same firm can configure the system, connect it to other software, reconcile accounts and help close the books.

02A software project with accountants attached

Founded in 2018, ScaleNorth works exclusively within the NetSuite ecosystem. Its leadership pairs operating and financial experience with technical expertise. Co-CEO David Lasky previously worked with Deloitte and Arthur Andersen; fellow co-CEO Joe Rovirosa is a CPA. Their firm sells and implements NetSuite, migrates data, develops customizations and supports customers after launch.

The accounting work goes well beyond entering receipts. ScaleNorth lists accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, monthly close, reporting, fractional controllers and audit preparation among its services. Customers can bring it in for implementation, ongoing technical help, outsourced accounting, or a combination. That flexibility matters: needing a better ERP does not automatically mean needing an entirely new finance department.

Its customer roster makes the market position concrete. Published cases include jewelry company BaubleBar, software business PriceSpider, candle maker Voluspa and VivoAquatics. ScaleNorth also courts private equity firms and their portfolio companies, where acquisitions, investor reporting and multiple entities can turn a modest accounting setup into a bottleneck.

03What broke was the view

At VivoAquatics, the practical gain was visibility. CEO Willan Johnson described being able to examine profitability by department, territory and product line, alongside recurring and transactional revenue. Orders from the procurement platform Coupa could flow into the ERP and generate invoices. An operational event became a financial record without another round of copying.

Johnson also described weighing an internal finance team against outsourcing. His conclusion was that the ScaleNorth relationship saved money, time and headcount while supplying financial expertise. It was a build-versus-buy decision about a department, as well as a software decision. The lesson a reader can borrow is to compare the whole operating arrangement: people, systems, responsibilities and reporting.

PriceSpider illustrates a different entry point. Its published case describes an initial NetSuite partner leaving gaps in project strategy and communication. ScaleNorth brought a technical accounting approach, emphasized native NetSuite functions and worked on foreign-subsidiary integration. The useful detail is the preference for existing functionality. Adding code is not always the shortest route to a working business process.

04The monthly retainer meets the monthly close

ScaleNorth earns its place through professional services, accounting outsourcing, licensing and continuing support. Its managed services program sells blocks of monthly hours, assigns a dedicated team and provides weekly status reports. Clients can use the hours for troubleshooting, integrations, reports, training or improvements. Quarterly business reviews give the relationship a planning rhythm.

The support arrangement also changes how work arrives. ScaleNorth describes direct contact with its assigned team through chat, email, phone or Zoom during business hours, rather than a ticket queue. The customer still needs to decide which requests matter most. A retained team can supply capacity and continuity; management has to supply priorities.

The buying decision needs three cost buckets: software subscriptions, implementation and continuing operations. ScaleNorth says license pricing varies with users, modules and organizational needs; implementation depends on complexity, integrations and customization. A sensible comparison therefore puts the same scope and staffing assumptions into every proposal. A smaller initial quote can describe a smaller job.

This arrangement competes with several alternatives: NetSuite’s direct implementation team, its Advanced Customer Support offering, other NetSuite consultancies, and internal administrators and accountants. ScaleNorth’s pitch is the combination of technical and financial work under one roof. Whether that combination is valuable depends on which responsibilities the customer wants to retain.

05A checklist can be a product

The ScaleNorth Platform bundles people and process with proprietary accelerators. Its Month End Close Accelerator puts tasks, preparer and reviewer assignments, due dates, reconciliation tracking and evidence inside NetSuite. That is an unusually revealing product: a checklist made useful by connecting it to the people and records behind each tick.

On the product page, ElderCare CFO Michael Marchand reports a 10% reduction in time to close. Treat that as a customer result, rather than a forecast for every buyer. More instructive is the mechanism: owners, approvals and supporting evidence share a home. Readers can copy that discipline before they buy another application.

There is also an AI Accelerator that extends NetSuite’s AI Connector Service, letting configured assistants query data and perform tasks through natural-language requests. ScaleNorth says access comes through managed services or outsourced accounting within its platform. The product expands the service relationship; it is not sold as an independent replacement for it.

06The work after go-live

ScaleNorth reports more than 300 team members and says 53% hold CPA credentials. Its careers page describes remote work and hiring across the United States and the Philippines, while emphasizing collaboration and continuous learning. That combination fits the offer: someone has to understand both a broken integration and the accounting consequence of leaving it broken.

Oracle NetSuite named ScaleNorth BPO Partner of the Year in 2022 and again in 2025. In October 2026, the firm is returning to SuiteWorld as a Gold Sponsor. The recognition marks its position inside a particular ecosystem. Customers choosing a different ERP will need a different specialist.

The model also needs participation. ScaleNorth’s implementation guidance stresses internal availability, testing and employee understanding. A company with straightforward books and a capable existing team may need much less help. For a buyer facing fragmented data, acquisitions or an overstretched controller, the first useful question is concrete: who will own each process after launch? ScaleNorth has made that question its business.
