Rocket Pro bets on the independent broker

Rocket’s wholesale channel gives small mortgage shops the tools of a large lender. The interesting part is how much freedom it promises to leave in their hands.

A mortgage broker has two jobs that rarely fit neatly together. One is personal: explain a large purchase to somebody who may make it only a few times. The other is administrative: assemble the evidence that makes a lender comfortable financing it. Rocket Pro lives between those jobs. Its proposition is that a broker can keep the relationship while borrowing the machinery of a much larger business.

The story in 30 seconds
  • Independent brokers keep the client relationship; Rocket supplies lending infrastructure and support.
  • ARIVE integration and Jupiter reduce repeated entry and document chasing.
  • Complimentary tools support a lending business. Loan costs and promotional conditions still apply.

That arrangement contains a delicate question. Rocket Mortgage also sells directly to consumers. Why would an independent broker send a client into the infrastructure of a company with its own retail operation? Rocket Pro’s published partner commitments address the anxiety directly: “Your clients are your clients.” It says its retail and wholesale channels are firewalled. In this business, a boundary can be as consequential as a feature.

“Your clients are your clients.”

Rocket Pro’s published Partner Promises

A new name. An older machine.

Rocket Pro is Rocket Mortgage’s wholesale partner channel, serving mortgage brokers, community banks and credit unions across the United States. Its roots go back to May 2010, when Quicken Loans Mortgage Services launched. The Rocket Pro TPO name arrived in 2020; the TPO suffix disappeared in January 2025. Treating 2020 as its founding date misses a decade of operating history.

The 2020 announcement spelled out the exchange: brokers wanted technology, marketing support and referrals; Rocket could provide them at scale. The planned tools included broker-branded applications, electronic signatures, document uploads and visibility into loan status. Local advice would sit in front of centralized lending infrastructure. The broker’s name could remain on the experience.

Today the product shelf includes conventional mortgages, FHA and VA loans, jumbo options, home equity loans and debt-service-coverage-ratio financing for property investors. The range matters because borrowers arrive with different financial lives. A useful wholesale partner gives a broker more possible answers, subject to each product’s qualification rules.

The missing feature was a handoff

Consider the modest triumph of staying in one screen. In April 2025, Rocket Pro joined ARIVE’s lender marketplace, making products and pricing available where many brokers already worked. The first integration solved shopping. Submission and tracking were the next jobs to connect.

By June 2026, the expanded integration let brokers submit files and receive live Rocket Pro status updates inside ARIVE. Repeat the alternative across a pipeline: another login, another transfer, another place to check. Rocket’s current ARIVE page describes the goal plainly: reduce re-entering data and juggling systems.

Rocket also introduced Jupiter in February 2026, developed with sister company Lendesk. Its borrower portal, automated document requests and loan pipeline put more of the process together. Brokers can submit directly to Rocket Pro or export a standard mortgage application for another lender. Rocket says the system is complimentary regardless of where the loan goes. The commercial bet is that convenience will earn business without requiring exclusivity.

An underwriter still picks up

Rocket Pro’s support structure remains human. Partners get an account executive and dedicated operational crews, including underwriters and closing specialists. Brokers can consult underwriting before starting a loan as well as after submission. Pathfinder, its searchable knowledge resource created with Google, helps answer guideline questions.

This is the practical expertise being sold: knowing which document is missing, what an underwriting requirement means and who can resolve a problem before a closing date slips. Non-delegated correspondent partners get a different arrangement, with Assist and Flex options for document fulfillment and control over their lending and closing process.

Then comes Navigate, Rocket Pro’s AI workspace. It offers conversation practice, client explanations and custom apps without a subscription charge. Its Connectors bring Canva and Salesforce into that workspace. A broker can use it to prepare outreach or marketing, then spend the recovered time on the conversation that still needs judgment. A first experiment could be one recurring client explanation, reviewed before it is sent.

Free tools have a business model

Rocket Pro is a lending channel with software attached. The economic engine sits in originating and selling mortgages and, within the wider Rocket business, servicing them. Free technology can make sense if it attracts repeat loan flow. It does not make a borrower’s mortgage free, and outside services can carry their own charges.

The scale is measurable. Rocket reported $11.1 billion of Rocket Pro closed mortgage volume in the second quarter of 2026. Its gain-on-sale margin was 0.69%, with the company attributing that level to investment in its Compass partnership. That is a transaction metric, not a net profit margin. It reveals a willingness to spend on distribution through pricing.

The competitive field includes United Wholesale Mortgage and Pennymac TPO. Technology and support are common offers in this market. Rocket Pro’s particular combination is its connection to Rocket’s lending infrastructure, a choice of broker workflows and an explicit independence pledge. Whether that package wins a loan still depends on pricing, eligibility and execution. For brokers, the useful comparison is the complete loan offer, including fees, service and timing.

The broker gets a vote

Its 2026 Big Pitch competition made customer feedback unusually concrete: a $100,000 grand prize, with the broker community choosing the winner. Seth Hasan’s winning idea, Quick Counter, proposed getting loan numbers and disclosures to a client during the phone call. Runner-up ideas targeted documentation gaps and risks hidden in condition lists. These were proposed solutions, not evidence of products already delivered.

The latest Orbit program turns attention back to execution. It offers same-business-day conditional approval and a 12-business-day clear-to-close target on eligible purchases. Conditions include complete documentation, timely appraisal ordering and cleared requirements. The October program excludes, among other cases, FHA, VA and self-employment income. Clear to close also precedes the actual closing.

There is a useful operating lesson here for businesses far beyond mortgages. Start with the work customers already do, remove a repeated handoff, and give them a person who can handle exceptions. Rocket Pro’s wager depends on brokers trusting the boundary around their clients and finding enough suitable loans. A faster system helps only when the file, the borrower and the product fit together.
