The Anti-Agency Bet: Put the Whole Shop Under One Roof

Ric Militi left the client side with one account and an irritation: too many agencies make brands pay for the gaps between specialists. Fourteen years later, InnoVision’s answer is a 50-person marketing shop where the handoff is the product.

There is an old rule in service businesses: the person who has suffered the problem is unusually qualified to redesign it. Before Ric Militi founded InnoVision Marketing Group, he was not buying ads from the safe distance of a boardroom. He was vice president of marketing at Valley View Casino & Hotel, running an internal advertising department and living with every late file, diluted idea and vendor handoff. He knew the client’s side of the conference table. More important, he knew what happened after the meeting.

In February 2012, Militi left to build the company he had wanted to hire. Valley View came with him as the first account. The new agency had five people and a premise grander than its payroll: the strategy, the commercial, the media plan, the website and the press release should feel as if they came from one mind. The casino is still a client. A three-year renewal announced in 2026 carried the relationship into its fourteenth year.

The expensive space between two good ideas

InnoVision calls itself “The Anti-Agency.” This sounds like a teenager naming a band until you look at the org chart. Brand strategy and creative sit beside traditional media, digital, public relations, social, reputation, influencer marketing, web development and bilingual work. Pretzel Logic Productions handles film. Lightz Out Studios provides the physical production space. InnoVision Talent Agency supplies actors, models and voice performers. InnoVision Convert works on performance and leads.

The point is not that one building makes everyone brilliant. It is that the ordinary losses between brilliant specialists - the revised brief, the missing font, the producer who never heard the media rationale - become easier to see. In a conventional roster, a client pays each vendor and then quietly becomes the project manager joining them together. InnoVision sells that joining as part of the work.

That changes the invoice, too. The company says it tailors scope to a client’s stage of growth and uses an all-inclusive model instead of turning every thought into another billable increment. There is no public rate card, and that is the relevant fact: InnoVision is selling an ongoing operating system, not a $499 logo package. The comparison is less “agency fee versus freelancer fee” than “one accountable team versus the cost of coordinating six contracts.”

Seen on set: three people, two monitors and one fewer excuse for strategy to get lost on the walk to production.

A chicken tender gets a tuxedo

The most revealing InnoVision work does not begin with a channel. It begins with a small obstruction in a customer’s head. Huey Magoo’s had three Orlando-area locations when the agency took the account. The chicken category was crowded and the product needed a place in memory. InnoVision’s answer was not a list of adjectives. It was a social object: “The Filet Mignon of Chicken.” A commercial featuring a sharp child ordering a “filet mignon sandwich” explained the phrase while giving customers something repeatable.

The copyable move

Name the advantage so a customer can carry it away.

Find the hesitation, reduce it to one sentence, then make every medium prove the sentence. The phrase should work at a table before it works in a deck.

Island Fin Poké Co. presented a different blockage. Many potential diners believed poké meant raw fish and stopped before tasting it. The agency deconstructed the bowl, showing that proteins and combinations could be familiar, flexible and friendly to picky eaters. It called the platform “IncrediBOWL,” extended the idea from ads into the restaurant experience, and reported more than 230,000 Facebook and Instagram engagements during the summer launch. Its public-relations program produced a reported $413,500 in earned-media value in 2023.

Three signals that the system traveled

These numbers are not interchangeable - one is corporate growth, one is engagement and one is an estimated media value - but together they show the territory InnoVision occupies. It is not merely a design studio, nor a performance shop that arrives after the brand has been decided. It wants the sentence, the film, the distribution and the measurement.

“While AI removed the traditional barriers of time and cost, trust removed all the others.”Ric Militi, on the Valley View Casino commercial

The football that never touched San Diego

In February 2026, just before the Big Game kickoff, San Diego viewers saw a football travel past the Coronado Bridge, the zoo and the coastline before arriving at Valley View Casino. The 30-second spot was built entirely with AI tools under InnoVision’s direction and produced through Pretzel Logic. The obvious story is technological: expensive locations and difficult transitions could be made without a conventional shoot.

The better story is relational. A casino does not hand its pregame slot to a new trick. Valley View had spent fourteen years watching the same agency make thousands of smaller decisions. AI reduced the production burden; the long account history reduced the permission burden. What changed the client’s mind was not a demo. It was accumulated evidence that the people using the tool understood the brand.

This is also where the model finds its boundary. Integration pays when a company needs many channels to move together, when speed matters and when the central positioning is still unsettled. A business that needs only a specialist audit, a single logo or an occasional press release may be buying more machine than it can use. And an in-house system works only if the inside departments are genuinely strong. Fewer handoffs are helpful; fewer independent challenges can be dangerous.

A talent fee turned inside out

InnoVision’s strangest extension may be its most logical. In 2024, it launched a talent agency for actors, voice artists and models. In almost every scenario, represented talent keeps 100 percent of the negotiated rate. InnoVision retains the fee charged to the production instead. A standalone talent agency might find that economics awkward. A group that already conceives and produces commercials can treat representation as one more piece of the production system.

The company has continued to widen that system. It has marketed a new women’s volleyball team, worked on restaurant franchise expansion, partnered with Madrid-based GNF Worldwide, and handled publicity for the Los Angeles stop of the Amerigo Vespucci world tour. That last assignment helped earn three 2025 Bernays honors, including Best in Show. In 2025, Inc. ranked InnoVision No. 4,329 on its list of fast-growing private companies after 77 percent growth over three years.

The lesson is not to copy the departments. Most businesses should not start a film studio because a film studio looks impressive on a capabilities page. The useful move is to draw the journey from idea to customer and circle every place where responsibility changes hands. Which seam delays the work? Which seam changes the meaning? Which seam has no owner? InnoVision kept bringing those seams inside until the absence of a seam became its pitch.

Fourteen years after Militi left the casino, the original client remains. That is a quieter proof than a slogan, and a harder one to manufacture. The company called itself the Anti-Agency. What it actually built was an agency for clients tired of being the agency between their agencies.
