How Dynamic Torque Switching works

An electric motor faces a tradeoff. Wind it for high torque and it struggles at speed; wind it for speed and it strains under load. Gasoline cars solve this with a gearbox. ePropelled's electric Dynamic Torque Switching, or eDTS, solves it electronically. The motor's windings are configured in multiple paths and geometries, each tuned to a different speed-torque output, and the system switches between them in real time to match the demand of the moment.

The payoff is efficiency across the whole operating range, not just one sweet spot - a gain the company measures at 15 percent or more. For a battery-powered vehicle, waste heat is stolen range; recovering it is the closest thing to free performance in the business.
