A sofa is an oddly complicated thing to sell online. The shopper wants to know how it will look, how it will fit and whether the fabric can survive the household. The retailer wants pictures, options and a checkout that works. Somewhere behind all that sits a marketing team trying to change a page without turning the request into a small engineering project.
- Blue Acorn iCi connects enterprise websites, commerce systems and customer data.
- Its Lovesac case reports a Lighthouse performance score of 96, up from 20.
- Its services extend from strategy and implementation to running commerce operations.
01The sofa and the publishing queue
At Lovesac, those two kinds of waiting had become related. Blue Acorn iCi’s case study describes custom content components and large files dragging Lighthouse performance scores down to 20. Publishing campaigns was difficult, too. A furniture business needed richer pages, but its authors lacked the tools and development skills to make them quickly.
Blue Acorn iCi implemented Adobe Experience Manager Sites with Edge Delivery Services and connected asset management to Adobe’s Universal Editor. The reported score after launch was 96. Authors could build pages and add promotional content without developer involvement. The attractive part of that result is the combination: a faster experience for shoppers and fewer dependencies for the people maintaining it.
Google Lighthouse performance score / 100. Company-reported case study; not a sales metric or a controlled comparison.
There is a useful distinction here. The project targeted a 60 percent reduction in load times; that target is separate from the score reported afterward. Neither figure establishes how much additional furniture was sold. What the case does illustrate is a particular kind of problem: a storefront can become difficult for its own organization to operate.

02Four hundred people, one proposition
The company that works on those problems has its own assembly story. Kevin Eichelberger founded Blue Acorn in 2008. In April 2019, the commerce agency merged with iCiDIGITAL, a data-driven marketing and technology business. The newly combined Blue Acorn iCi also acquired BrandShop, which brought services for building and operating direct-to-consumer commerce channels.
The merger announcement described a 400-person team. That is a historical figure, but it reveals the ambition: bring engineers, designers, strategists and data specialists together around the same customer journey. A brand could ask for help with what a shopper saw and with the machinery that made the experience possible.
“Everything we do is rooted in data and analytics”Kevin Eichelberger / 2019 merger announcement
Scale did not arrive without friction. In 2016, the predecessor Blue Acorn cut an undisclosed number of jobs. Eichelberger said the changes aligned staffing with client needs. It is a reminder that an agency’s inventory is largely people and expertise. Growth in demand and the mix of skills required do not necessarily move together.
Infosys agreed to acquire the business in October 2020. Its subsequent financial reporting recorded $121 million in cash consideration, subject to closing adjustments, plus up to $9 million in employee retention bonuses. Those are acquisition economics, separate from what a customer pays for a project. The combination added commerce and analytics capabilities alongside Infosys’s earlier acquisition of creative agency WONGDOODY.
03The dealer stays in the picture
Today, Blue Acorn iCi’s business spans experience, commerce and customer intelligence. It helps select platforms, implement content systems, connect applications and test improvements. Commerce operations can include product, inventory, order and promotion management. Buyers are organizations with enough digital complexity to need several of these disciplines working together.
Its depth in Adobe is a central part of the proposition. The company also works in the Salesforce and Shopify ecosystems. Public customer references include Lovesac, Aramark, Zebra Technologies, Le Creuset and Charter Communications. The revenue model is professional services: clients pay for expertise and delivery, with continuing work in operations and optimization.
Consider a manufacturer selling through dealers. It wants a consistent brand experience; dealers need a useful place in the transaction. Blue Acorn iCi’s Adobe-accredited Unified Reseller Network addresses that arrangement with standardized storefronts, shared catalogs and role permissions. The operational question becomes who controls which parts of a common system.
That places the business between a design agency and a systems integrator. Comparable commerce partners include Vaimo and OSF Digital. Blue Acorn iCi’s particular combination is platform expertise, customer analytics and commerce operations inside an Infosys-owned company. The advantage depends on how closely those capabilities match the buyer’s actual problem.
04Who gets to press publish?
The same logic appears in newer offerings. CJA Bot Detection, announced as Adobe-accredited in October 2024, helps separate automated traffic from human behavior in Adobe’s analytics environment. Before an organization optimizes an experience, it needs confidence about whose behavior it is measuring.
In July 2026, Blue Acorn iCi described Infosys Aster’s Product Launch Accelerator. It connects product information, approved content, workflows and activation around a governed product source. Different teams can prepare from the same foundation. Again, the problem is partly technical and partly the sequence in which people must wait for one another.

The lesson a reader can borrow is modest: measure the effort behind a change, alongside the speed of the page. Count approvals, handoffs and specialist dependencies. Then decide which ones serve a purpose. That is an editorial takeaway from these projects, rather than a promise that another platform will fix an organization.
For a straightforward store, extensive integration may buy unnecessary complexity. Shared systems also need people willing to agree on ownership and standards. The interesting question to bring to Blue Acorn iCi is therefore concrete: what should our team be able to do for itself when this work is finished?
