Buy an industrial robot and you own a very expensive arm that does nothing until someone teaches it every move. For decades that teaching has been the bottleneck: weeks of vendor-specific programming, a specialist on a laptop, and a machine that has to be reprogrammed the moment a part changes shape. It is the reason so much manufacturing work - welding, sanding, spraying, shot peening on odd, variable geometries - never got automated at all.
Augmentus, founded in Singapore in 2019, went after that bottleneck rather than the robot itself. Its platform scans a physical part in 3D, uses AI to plan the toolpath, and generates a ready-to-run robot program automatically. What took weeks now takes minutes. The company says it cuts programming time by up to 90%, and in one powder-coating deployment it reported a 93% drop in robot downtime.
The pitch is deliberately unglamorous. "We're not here to add another buzzword to the mix," says co-founder and CEO Daryl Lim. "We're here to deliver working systems that solve real problems." In July 2025 the company raised US$11 million in a Series A+ round led by Woori Ventures, with EDBI joining and earlier backers Sierra Ventures and Cocoon Capital returning.

It is a B2B software company. Augmentus licenses its platform to manufacturers and system integrators, with the software running on validated 3D scanning hardware and standard industrial robots. Revenue comes from platform licenses plus deployment and application support - a software margin on top of the customer's existing capital equipment.
