Actabl wants the numbers to do some work

A hotel can count every dollar and still miss the overtime building upstairs. Actabl connects the forecast, the shift, the guest request, and the repair - then asks whether the work paid off.

At one hotel in Actabl’s AI beta, a housekeeping director discovered something rather pleasant: unused labor hours. The software prompted her to put them toward deep cleaning. A number that might have become a budget variance became cleaner rooms. The company’s account of the episode leaves the hotel unnamed, but the decision is wonderfully concrete. Someone had time. Something needed doing. The two finally met.

The quick check-in
  • Four products: finance, labor, service, and assets.
  • The buyer: hotel operators.
  • The test: better daily decisions.

This is the problem Actabl has chosen to work on. Hotels produce financial forecasts, staffing schedules, maintenance records, and guest requests. A manager must turn those separate accounts into one working day. Actabl sells software that connects the information to the people who can act on it. Its market is hotel operations, with particular appeal to owners and management companies overseeing multiple properties.

01Four businesses. One working day.

Actabl arrived at HITEC in June 2022 with an unusual advantage for a new company: established products and customers. ASG, a business backed by Alpine Investors, assembled ProfitSword, Hotel Effectiveness, Alice, and Transcendent under one brand. Hotel Effectiveness had joined through an acquisition the previous month. This was a software combination with an operating thesis, rather than a product starting from an empty screen.

The jobs divide neatly. ProfitSword handles business intelligence, forecasting, and budgets. Hotel Effectiveness translates demand into labor plans and schedules. Alice coordinates housekeeping, service delivery, guest messaging, and concierge work. Transcendent keeps track of equipment, preventive maintenance, and capital expenditure. Together, they cover the journey from deciding what a hotel should spend to recording what actually happened.

CEO Steven Moore previously ran Transcendent. That background matters: the portfolio includes the unglamorous physical world of equipment and repairs alongside financial analysis. In a 2026 interview, chief innovation officer Jerimi Ford described the shared-data idea through a housekeeper reporting a broken fixture. Different teams keep their own applications; information can travel between them. The work crosses departments even when the screens do not.

02The expensive part is the handoff

Hospitality Ventures Management Group provides a useful example. In Actabl’s published case study, HVMG’s portfolio comprised 53 properties, 20 brands, and roughly 9,000 rooms. Its budgeting and forecasting involved manual work, errors, and weak visibility into contractor productivity. The first thing to fail was the process for gathering and passing along information. More management attention could not make those handoffs disappear.

HVMG connected ProfitSword and Hotel Effectiveness to automate reporting and bring forecast and actual labor spending into view. Managers could examine contract labor alongside overtime. The case study reports time savings and better visibility, without establishing a controlled financial return. What changed the customer’s position was practical: less retyping, information arriving sooner, and department heads getting time back for decisions.

Another connection, Clean Sync, links Alice housekeeping records with Hotel Effectiveness. Room-clean counts move between the products, reducing manual entry for productivity reporting. The detail is almost comically small. Yet counting cleaned rooms twice is exactly the sort of work that becomes expensive when repeated across a portfolio. The product pitch gets more convincing as it gets more specific.

03Before the answer, agree on the number

Connecting applications raises a less visible question: do their numbers mean the same thing? In May 2026, Actabl announced a US patent for its approach to normalizing hotel data. Its system interprets incoming fields and maps them into a common taxonomy. The announcement described more than 400 active integrations. That is infrastructure for comparing properties that use different systems and accounting labels.

The data work explains Actabl’s position among alternatives. Unifocus also sells hotel labor and operations software; Otelier offers business intelligence, budgeting, and back-office automation. Buyers have choices. Actabl’s particular proposition combines financial analysis, labor, service, and asset work through its four established product families.

The company extended that foundation in June 2026 with Altitude, a plain-language interface for portfolio questions. Noble House Hotels & Resorts was its design partner. At announcement, Altitude was entering an invitation-only beta. Actabl said responses would show their underlying sources and could become dashboards. The useful question for a buyer is whether an answer can be checked against the hotel’s records.

04A small number with a weekly appointment

The September 2026 AI Insights results offer a narrower, more testable claim. Across a beta covering more than 100 hotels at eight management companies, Actabl reported a median overtime reduction of 2.9 hours per hotel per week. Comparable non-beta hotels at the same operators showed no change. Participation in the daily labor check-in rose 10% among beta users while remaining flat among others.

These are company-reported comparisons, rather than proof from a randomized experiment. Still, the mechanism is worth examining. AI Insights puts an issue, an explanation, and a suggested next step into the daily check-in and email. The intervention arrives where a manager already works. The housekeeping director’s deep-cleaning decision shows why success can mean reallocating hours as well as reducing them.

05You are buying a habit, too

Actabl’s commercial model is modular B2B software sold through a demo-led sales process. The purchasing calculation should include the subscription quote, implementation, integration work, and staff training. Ask what is included. Compare the total against measured hours saved and spending avoided. A reduction in overtime is a gross benefit; the software bill still belongs in the arithmetic.

The habit is the harder purchase. A daily check needs a person responsible for following through. Hospitality America’s CEO Ben Campbell put it plainly in another Actabl customer story: “The tools are only as good as you use them.” His company expanded from ProfitSword into labor and asset management. Actabl itself advertises a distributed workforce across more than 18 countries, with parental leave and discretionary time off among its benefits. Its stated mission centers on supporting hospitality’s people.

The lesson readers can copy is modest: choose one recurring decision, make its inputs comparable, assign an owner, and review the outcome each day. Start with last week’s records, so the first comparison has a baseline. Dirty data or an ignored check-in can defeat the arrangement. A hotel whose existing tools already cover its needs may gain little from extra software. For a sprawling portfolio, though, getting the forecast and the shift to agree is a problem worth paying to solve.
