Its cloud and edge platform runs a library of AI models to inspect critical infrastructure - power lines, wind turbines, solar farms, rail, roads and industrial sites - detecting faults, corrosion and equipment wear so utilities, transport authorities and resource companies can inspect assets faster and safer. Owl Autonomous Imaging (Owl AI) builds Monocular 3D Thermal Ranging cameras and AI perception software that let vehicles and machines see people, animals and obstacles in total darkness, blinding glare, fog, rain and snow. Founded in 2018 by Chuck Gershman and Gene Petilli, the Fairport, New York company pairs its own HD long-wave infrared focal plane array with thermal CNNs to deliver both classification and distance from a single passive camera - aimed at pedestrian automatic emergency braking, ADAS and defense.
Sunflower Labs
Sunflower Labs builds the Beehive - a fully autonomous, AI-powered drone security system for large outdoor properties. Its 'Bee' drone lives inside a weatherproof 'Hive' base station, launches within seconds of a triggered sensor, patrols a property while avoiding obstacles in nearly any weather, streams HD and thermal video, then returns to recharge on its own. Founded in 2016 and based in Zurich and San Francisco, the company pitches drones as a lower-cost, faster-responding alternative to human security patrols for industrial sites, commercial campuses, and high-value residential properties.
Matter Intelligence
Matter Intelligence is a remote sensing and AI company building the world's first sub-meter hyperspectral and thermal satellite sensors paired with a foundational 'Large World Model' that lets machines understand the physical world at a molecular level. Founded by former NASA JPL engineers, the El Segundo startup emerged from stealth in October 2024 with $12M in seed funding to deploy sensors across satellites, drones, and aircraft for agriculture, defense, energy, and environmental monitoring.
Bounce Imaging
Bounce Imaging makes softball-sized, throwable 360-degree cameras that first responders, law enforcement, and military teams toss into dangerous spaces to see what is inside before they enter. Founded out of MIT and the Harvard Innovation Lab after the 2010 Haiti earthquake, the company builds low-cost, rugged imaging and robotics systems - including the Explorer and the world's first thermal throwable camera, the Pit Viper 360 - that stream real-time omnidirectional video to a phone or tablet. Its devices are used by the FBI, U.S. Marshals, the Department of Defense, and more than 450 state and local agencies.
Asylon Robotics
Asylon Robotics builds US-made robotic security systems that pair autonomous aerial drones with ground robots (its Spot-based DroneDog) and AI command software to automate perimeter patrols for corporate campuses, logistics hubs, and critical infrastructure. Sold as Robotic Security as a Service and backed by a 24/7 Robotic Security Operations Center, the platform has run more than 250,000 missions across deployments in 15 U.S. states for customers including Ford, Bayer, GXO, Kia, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
