Sema Sgaier is the co-founder and CEO of Surgo Health, a Washington, DC public benefit corporation that uses AI and behavioral science to decode the 'why' behind health behaviors. A trained molecular biologist and neuroscientist turned serial entrepreneur, she spent a dozen years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation scaling HIV-prevention programs across India and Africa before co-founding Surgo Foundation, Surgo Ventures, and Surgo Health. She has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed papers, taught at Harvard and the University of Washington, writes op-eds for The New York Times, and is a trained documentary photographer.

With nearly two decades of experience scaling venture-backed companies across healthcare, fintech, media, and education, Farren rose from teacher and high school basketball coach to one of healthcare tech's most active growth operators. He spent eight combined years as Chief Growth Officer at Elation Health and Osmind before joining Canvas as President and COO in April 2023, then ascending to CEO in September 2024. Under his leadership, Canvas launched Hyperscribe - an open-source AI clinical copilot - and the Backplane platform for AI agent deployment, betting that the agentic future of medicine runs on open, programmable infrastructure.
Leslie Wilberforce
Leslie Oley Wilberforce is the CEO of Evidation, a San Mateo-based digital health company that has built a 5-million-person platform where individuals share permissioned health data to power real-world clinical research. A mechanical engineer by training (BS Penn State, MS Stanford), she joined Evidation in 2015 and spent a decade building the company's enterprise technology platform and landmark partnerships with Johnson & Johnson, Apple, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, and the American Heart Association before becoming Evidation's first non-founder CEO in March 2025.
