Cars.com built the audience. Now its parent is connecting that traffic to dealer websites, appraisals, advertising and wholesale auctions - a bid to own more of the messy journey from search box to showroom.
Motorist is a Singapore-based automotive platform - a self-styled 'super app for vehicle owners' - that consolidates the messy, opaque steps of car ownership into one place. Founded in 2015 by Damian Sia after a frustrating experience selling his own car, it now spans buying, selling, COE renewal, insurance, loans, valuation, inspection, scrapping and day-to-day driving tools. The company has served roughly 1.8 million motorists, facilitated more than S$3 billion in vehicle transactions, and works with over 3,000 certified automotive partners across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
SellAnyCar.com is a Dubai-based automotive marketplace that buys used cars directly from consumers. Sellers get a free online valuation in seconds, bring the car to a branch for a free professional inspection, and receive a guaranteed offer within 30 minutes. Once accepted, the company pays by bank transfer, handles the paperwork and title transfer, and auctions the vehicle to a network of dealers. Founded in 2013 by serial entrepreneur Saygin Yalcin, it markets itself as the Middle East's first and largest car-buying service and has expanded across the UAE and into Saudi Arabia.
