Softcrylic makes
the data behave

Before a brand can personalize anything, its systems have to agree on who the customer is. Softcrylic has built a business in that awkward space between buying the software and making it useful.

A racing fan buys a ticket, opens an email and visits a team’s website. Three ordinary actions. Inside a marketing department, they can become three apparently unrelated people. The car might travel around the circuit with extraordinary precision while the customer record struggles to cross the office.

That is the kind of problem Softcrylic gets paid to untangle. In its account of work with Williams Racing, fan information arrived from disconnected sources. The objective was practical: understand the audience and encourage registration and engagement. Before better messages could follow, the fragments needed to belong together.

The quick read / 30 seconds
  • The job: connect customer data, marketing software and the people operating both.
  • The approach: consulting and engineering, supported by reusable tools and managed services.
  • The catch: segmentation still depends on clear metrics, usable inputs and human judgment.

The fan who became two people

Softcrylic describes Williams using AudienceMatchAI alongside Adobe Experience Platform to group fans by behavior. An email enthusiast who attends events might need a different approach from someone consuming live statistics and social content. AudienceMatchAI combines machine learning with a conversational assistant, giving marketers a way to interrogate those groups and develop campaign ideas.

Then came the less glamorous discovery. The deployment exposed missing values, poorly defined metrics and questions about which signals mattered. In Softcrylic’s telling, preparing information upstream proved as necessary as analyzing it downstream. The lesson is wonderfully inconvenient for anyone hoping AI will make preparation optional.

The business between the boxes

Softcrylic began in 2000 with co-founders John Flavin and Bharath Sritharan. Its engineering roots matter. A company accustomed to building applications and testing systems approaches a marketing problem differently from a team whose deliverable ends with a campaign idea. Somebody must connect the systems, check the events and keep the results dependable.

Today its services span strategy, engineering, analytics and marketing technology. It audits data and software, designs architecture, builds pipelines, implements platforms and creates reports. Adobe, Google, Salesforce, Microsoft and AWS recur throughout its practice. Its customers span travel, leisure, publishing, retail and banking, with work ranging from growing companies to large enterprises.

The business also continues after implementation. The Data Desk packages repetitive operations as managed services: tracking audits, data-layer checks, campaign support and reporting. Softcrylic explicitly presents shared delivery as a way to reduce dependence on one named person. Every department with an indispensable spreadsheet keeper will recognize the appeal.

Its position in the market is easiest to understand from the buyer’s desk. A platform vendor supplies software; an internal team supplies institutional knowledge. Softcrylic supplies additional implementation and operational capacity across several platforms. A buyer should therefore compare the proposed work, responsibility for maintenance and depth in the existing stack, rather than compare product feature lists alone.

A foundation the customer owns

The Marketing Data Foundation takes aim at the identity problem beneath all those campaigns. It prepares and connects first-party customer information inside the client’s environment. That distinction matters: the foundation serves the marketing tools around it, while the organization retains its own customer-data infrastructure.

In a September 2025 explanation, analytics leader Francis Lavelle described deployments across customers’ existing cloud and data platforms. The company says its modular approach typically takes three months. Treat that as its implementation guidance; project scope, identity rules and source-system complexity still determine the work.

“We meet clients where they are.”

Brightline provides a useful example of both engineering and buying. Softcrylic reports that the rail operator gained a unified customer profile and began real-time activation with email. The procurement detail is unusually concrete: contracting through AWS Marketplace let Brightline use AWS credits and discounted AWS MAP pricing to lower upfront investment. Commercial structure can help a data project get moving, too.

  3. 03ActivateSend usable audiences to campaigns
The campaign comes third. A simplified explanation of the work, not a measured performance chart.

Tools for the arguments in the data

Softcrylic’s smaller products reveal its working habits. DataFacts checks consistency, anomalies and duplicates. Think of the meeting where a source system and a business-intelligence report disagree about sales. Monitoring cannot settle every business definition, but it can make discrepancies visible before they acquire an executive audience.

Data Layer Cloner addresses a narrower headache. It reuses an established Google Tag Manager data layer in Adobe’s format for organizations maintaining both analytics systems. Its stated conditions are specific: an existing Google implementation and the respective tag managers. This is useful interoperability work for a particular setup, with boundaries worth reading before choosing it.

The newer Data Readiness Agent moves the inspection earlier. It evaluates exported schemas against proposed marketing use cases, identifying missing fields and relationships without requiring live customer records. A structural assessment answers whether the ingredients appear to exist. Teams still need to examine the underlying data before relying on it.

These tools also make the business model legible. Recurring implementation problems become reusable components; those components support the next engagement. The customer is buying a combination of specialist labor, delivery methods and software. The useful commercial question is which responsibilities the engagement covers: discovery, implementation, platform costs, ongoing monitoring or some combination of them.

What Hexaware bought

Hexaware completed its acquisition of Softcrylic on May 3, 2024. The strategic attraction was the combination of customer-journey and marketing expertise with Hexaware’s broader engineering and AI capabilities. In August 2025, Softcrylic also announced Adobe Journey Optimizer Specialization, adding a platform credential to that positioning.

The acquisition / reported consideration₹12.314billion

Hexaware’s 2024 accounts record ₹8.373 billion in upfront cash. The balance includes a working-capital adjustment and the present value of contingent payments.

68% upfront cash32% other consideration

The next direction appears in a February 2026 sales vacancy: Softcrylic describes an evolving focus on AI platforms, accelerators and engagements tied to outcomes. That is evidence of commercial intent. The enduring proposition remains recognizable: connect the marketing ambition to the engineering required to deliver it.

Start with one question

There is something readers can copy without buying anything. Pick one customer question. List the fields needed to answer it. Identify where each field lives, how records join and who owns corrections. Check permission to use the information. Only then choose the segment, message and channel.

This approach needs access to the relevant systems, agreement on definitions and people willing to maintain the result. A small business with simple reporting may need little of this machinery. For an enterprise with conflicting customer records, however, the attraction is plain. The personalized message gets the attention. Making the records agree makes it possible.
