Prediction, not paperwork: what Mesh Bio actually does

In most clinics, a health screening is a rear-view mirror. It tells you what your cholesterol was on the morning of the blood draw. Mesh Bio, a health deep-tech based on Sin Ming Lane in Singapore, was built on a different premise - that the same data, read the right way, can point forward.

Founded in 2018 by Andrew Wu and Arsen Batagov, the company develops predictive analytics and clinical decision-support software for the management and prevention of chronic disease. Its models draw on multidimensional patient data - blood tests, heart rate, weight and more - to build what the company calls a digital twin: a virtual, data-driven model of a person's state of health that clinicians can use to see where a disease is heading.

The conditions in its sights are the ones that quietly do the most damage: diabetes, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, myocardial infarction and stroke. Mesh Bio says its models can identify at-risk patients up to ten years before a clinical diagnosis would normally land.

The point is practical. Chronic, noncommunicable disease accounts for close to two-thirds of deaths in the region. You manage what you can predict - and prediction, delivered inside the clinical workflow, is the product.
