A Dubai company that spent fifteen years building the hardware, operating system and connectivity that let hotels and apartment buildings control climate, light and water - then made sure guests would never notice it was there.
INTEREL, Dubai — the corporate mark of a company whose products sit on hotel walls in 45+ countries, mostly unseen.
Photographed as brand asset, interel.com.
Walk into a hotel room and the air conditioning already knows you have arrived. The lights settle into a scene. Ask for housekeeping through a wall panel or a voice assistant and the request routes itself to the right person. None of that feels like technology - and that is the point. INTEREL builds the smart-building infrastructure underneath, and the best version of its work is the version guests never see.
Founded in Dubai in 2010, INTEREL develops a full stack for the connected room: physical devices such as thermostats, panels and room controllers; the software that runs them, INTEREL OS; and the platforms that tie everything to the wider building - door locks, lighting, property-management systems and voice assistants.
The company calls the whole thing the Hotel of Things, a play on the Internet of Things aimed squarely at hospitality. A parallel product line, Home of Things, brings the same approach to apartment buildings and residential developers.
Underneath sits connectBsmart, an ultra-low-energy connectivity framework that lets a single room speak Zigbee, Bluetooth and 802.15.4 at once, so a property is not locked into one radio standard or one vendor's ecosystem.
Creating sustainable intelligent environments.
INTEREL's pitch resolves a tension most hospitality tech ignores: the guest wants the room to feel effortless while the owner wants the energy bill to shrink. The same box on the wall sells experience to one and efficiency to the other. Occupancy sensing that dims an empty room is, quietly, the sustainability story - measure what is empty, then stop conditioning it.
The award-winning core: guests control lighting, climate, shades and services; hotels gain automation, energy savings and integrations with locks, voice and PMS.
Integration platform connecting smart-building partners to physical room infrastructure and exposing the data through an API.
Cross-vendor, ultra-low-energy IoT connectivity supporting Zigbee, Bluetooth and 802.15.4 in one room.
The operating system running across every device - more than 100 upgrades shipped since launch.
A thermostat that doubles as an environmental fusion sensor and in-room IoT hub. The least glamorous object quietly runs the space.
Premium metal thermostats and panels with backlit icons, far-field proximity sensing and an integrated night light.
The world's first IP-based online water management system for the hospitality industry.
Enterprise-grade thermostats with tenant apps and property-management integration for apartment buildings.
Model: B2B hardware-plus-software. INTEREL sells room-control devices bundled with INTEREL OS and its integration platforms to hotels, developers and property owners, through projects with hotel groups, contractors and integrators.
Funding: €10M growth capital (reported as Series A, ~$11M) from Jolt Capital, September 2017.
Revenue: approximately $22.6M (estimate).
Team: ~140 employees, headquartered in Dubai with a footprint across four continents.
Plenty of companies sell hotel locks, thermostats or apps. INTEREL's difference is that it owns the boring, load-bearing layer end to end - the device, the operating system and the integration platform - rather than a single gadget. That vertical control is why a renovation tends to keep INTEREL rather than rip it out: the wall panel is not a product to be replaced, it is the platform the rest of the room plugs into.

INTEREL is featured in the Siemens ecosystem, extending Siemens smart-building products.
INTEREL's expertise is deep and narrow: a decade and a half of guest-room data, energy state-machines tuned across countless room conditions, and hardware engineering that has to survive both a housekeeper's rough day and a designer's taste. That combination - industrial reliability plus consumer-grade polish - is rarer than it sounds.
In the market, INTEREL sits at the intersection of proptech, building automation and hospitality technology. It is not a consumer brand and never tried to be; it sells to buildings, not people. Its admission into the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem is the clearest signal that hospitality IoT has moved from novelty to infrastructure - and that INTEREL is one of the layers larger platforms now build on.
The company's second act is adjacency. The same expertise that runs a five-star suite now runs tenant-controlled HVAC in apartment blocks and senior living. When your hardest-won knowledge in one vertical becomes a door into the next, growth looks less like reinvention and more like porting a proven system to a new address.
