In 2013 he joined AvePoint, a company focused on data management and governance for Microsoft 365. He served as Vice President of Customer Strategy and Solutions, Chief Technology Officer for the Public Sector, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Brand Officer, and now Chief Transformation Officer.

In 2020 Sy launched the #ShiftHappens podcast, a show about how organizations navigate digital workplace and business transformation. The name is a wink, but the format is serious: real case studies, real leaders, and a steady focus on the messy middle where change actually happens. The very first episode set the tone. It featured a security officer who used Power Apps to improve business processes at Heathrow Airport, a project that led to more than $700,000 in savings. Not a vendor pitch. A person, solving a problem, with a result you could put a number on.
That instinct to teach shows up in his writing too. He is the author of SharePoint for Project Management, published by O'Reilly Media, a book that helped a generation of project managers get real work done inside tools that were not obviously built for them. He later created the LinkedIn Learning course How to Build Your Personal Brand, which produced a small irony that colleagues enjoy pointing out: the person teaching the course had already built one of the strongest personal brands in the Microsoft community.
