Datos Health sits in an unglamorous corner of healthcare: the space between hospital visits, where chronically ill patients mostly disappear from view. The New York-based company builds software that keeps clinicians connected to those patients at home - collecting vitals, sending reminders, scoring surveys, and flagging the moment someone needs a human. It calls the approach "automated assisted self-care," and it runs on a platform designed so that a nurse, not a software engineer, can build the program.
The premise is simple enough to state and hard to execute: previous digital health tools were, as the company puts it, "purpose-built for precisely one or two things" and "hard-coded with limited flexibility." Want a new protocol? File a request and wait. Datos Health's answer is a drag-and-drop Design Studio that turns a care protocol into a working patient app the same afternoon, with any change reflected instantly on the patient's phone.
That flexibility is the product. Cardiac rehab, congestive heart failure, oncology follow-up, hospital-at-home, diabetes, IBD, pulmonary rehab, behavioral health, post-discharge monitoring - rather than shipping a separate product for each, Datos Health ships one configurable canvas and lets care teams draw the rest. The distinction between a feature and a platform is exactly this, and it is the company's central bet.
Under the hood, a robotic-process-automation (RPA) engine does the repetitive watching. It sets rules to identify trends, combinations of abnormal vitals, medication adherence, and side effects, then routes an alert to the care team only when a patient truly needs intervention. The goal is not to replace the clinician but to give them eyes on the right patients - the ones drifting toward trouble.
The platform is deliberately device-agnostic. Whatever wearable, medical device, or fitness tracker a patient already owns, the CareApp reads it; data can also be entered by hand. There is no proprietary hardware to buy, which lowers the barrier for a health system that already has a tangle of devices in the field.
Before healthcare, Uri Bettesh spent nearly two decades in enterprise technology - a general manager at NCR Corporation and VP of Product at retail-tech firm Retalix. The turn to medicine was personal. His father-in-law, a diagnosed cardiac patient, needed sudden, urgent open-heart surgery. The episode exposed how little visibility clinicians had into a chronically ill patient once they left the hospital.
Bettesh founded Datos Health in 2015 to close that gap - a company built to manage patient-generated health data and track the trajectory of chronic conditions over time. Ten years on, he still runs it as CEO, alongside a leadership team spanning product, engineering, strategy, and operations across offices in New York, Sydney, and Israel.
