A restaurant can remember your birthday and still forget your business. SevenRooms built software to close that gap - and DoorDash agreed to pay roughly $1.2 billion for it.
Restaurants cook the meal. Delivery apps often keep the relationship. Lunchbox wants to put both back on the restaurant’s side of the table.
Sauce is a Miami-based restaurant technology company that helps independent restaurants and small chains build a profitable direct online ordering and delivery business. Instead of surrendering 30% commissions and customer data to marketplaces like DoorDash and Uber Eats, restaurants use Sauce to take branded direct orders and fulfill them through a managed, commission-free courier network charged at a flat per-order fee. The platform bundles online ordering, managed delivery, live order support, local SEO, and AI-driven marketing and retention into a single system aimed at turning delivery from a cost center into a margin driver.
OpenTable is the online restaurant-reservation marketplace that connects diners with tables and gives restaurants the software to manage them. Founded in San Francisco in 1998, it pairs a consumer booking app and website with a back-of-house table-management and CRM platform, helping more than 60,000 restaurants worldwide seat roughly 1.9 billion diners a year. It is owned by Booking Holdings, which acquired it in 2014 for $2.6 billion.
