Khona began with rare cannabinoids and a stubborn biological problem: long pathways leak value at every step. Now the four-person Colorado biotech is aiming its microbial assembly line at a larger prize - domestic supplies of pharmaceutical starting materials and APIs.

Geoffrey Chaiken is the co-founder and CEO of BlinkRx (Blink Health), a New York-based digital health company rebuilding how prescription drugs get priced, paid for, and delivered. The son and grandson of physicians, he gave up a career in medicine to attack what he calls the real bottleneck in healthcare - not discovering new cures, but getting existing ones into patients' hands at a fair price. With his younger brother Matthew, he has raised more than half a billion dollars to digitize both the patient front end and the pharmaceutical industry's back end, partnering with drug makers and tens of thousands of pharmacies to strip middlemen out of the medication supply chain.
Shabbir Dahod
Shabbir Dahod is the co-founder, President and CEO of TraceLink, the Massachusetts company that built the de-facto industry standard network for tracing pharmaceuticals from factory to patient. He started the company in 2009 out of ideas sparked at MIT, after earlier stints building multimedia and web products at Paul Allen's Asymetrix and Microsoft, and founding the serialization pioneer SupplyScape. Today he is pushing TraceLink's 291,000-entity digital network toward agentic AI and end-to-end supply chain orchestration, work that earned him a 2024 Pros to Know Lifetime Achievement Award.
