Founded in 2020 and headquartered in New York with a remote team, it layers a Heroku-like developer experience on top of AWS, GCP, Azure and Scaleway - automating environment provisioning, ephemeral pull-request environments, and day-2 Kubernetes operations so developers can ship without becoming DevOps experts. The company raised a $13M Series A in 2025 and is used by tens of thousands of developers across more than 100 countries.
Coder
Coder is an Austin-based software company that moves software development off individual laptops and into secure, self-hosted cloud development environments (CDEs). Its open-source and enterprise platform uses infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) to provision standardized, governed developer workspaces that run on Kubernetes or VMs across any cloud, on-prem, or air-gapped setup. Increasingly, Coder positions itself as the control plane for enterprise AI development, where human developers and AI coding agents work inside the same governed environment. It raised a $90M Series C led by KKR in April 2026.
Serverless Inc.
Serverless Inc. is a San Francisco software company that builds the Serverless Framework, one of the most widely used open-source tools for deploying applications to AWS Lambda and other cloud functions. Founded in 2015 by Austen Collins, it turned a solo open-source project called JAWS into a de facto standard for infrastructure-as-code in the function-as-a-service era, then layered commercial products - a dashboard, observability, and a subscription license - on top for larger teams.
Steve Corndell
Steve Corndell is the CEO of env0, a Boston-based infrastructure-as-code management platform. A career sales leader, he spent roughly a decade at Turbonomic climbing from Senior Channel Manager to Chief Revenue Officer, helping steer the company to a $2 billion acquisition by IBM in 2021. He joined env0 as COO in January 2024 and was unanimously promoted to CEO by the board in May 2025, taking the top job from co-founder Ohad Maislish and assembling a new enterprise-focused leadership team.

Founded in 2022 by Travis McPeak and Aladdin Almubayed and backed by $8M in seed funding, Resourcely was acquired by Anysphere (maker of the AI code editor Cursor) in July 2025, with McPeak joining to lead Cursor's security efforts.
David Bild
David Bild is a technical co-founder and engineering leader at Resourcely, the cloud-security startup acquired by Anysphere (maker of Cursor) in July 2025. A Ph.D. computer engineer who once designed censorship-resistant networks, he has spent his career turning gnarly security problems into guardrails developers actually want to use - from overlay networking for IoT at Xaptum to secure-by-design Terraform blueprints at Resourcely. Post-acquisition he works on Fraim, an open-source, genAI-based application- and cloud-security tool. He builds from a cabin-adjacent base in Southwest Harbor, Maine, on the doorstep of Acadia.
MetalSoft
MetalSoft is a Chicago-based infrastructure software company that turns racks of physical servers, switches, and storage into cloud-like, self-service infrastructure. Its CloudPlex platform automates the full lifecycle of multi-vendor bare metal hardware - discovery, OS and firmware deployment, network fabric configuration, and storage - so enterprises and service providers can provision dedicated infrastructure on demand via a UI or API. Spun out of cloud hosting company Hostway in 2019 and led by serial founder Lucas Roh, MetalSoft raised a $16M Series A in December 2022 and has since pivoted hard toward orchestrating GPU clusters and 'AI factories' for telcos, data center operators, and Fortune 500 enterprises.

Zelar (ZelarSoft) is a cloud-native engineering and consulting firm that helps banks, telcos, oil & gas, and government teams adopt Kubernetes, DevOps, and AI without the usual pain. Founded in 2018 and led by CEO Vasu Maganti, the company pairs hands-on services - cloud migration, SRE, security, and data engineering - with its own platforms: Klusternetes for self-service Kubernetes multi-tenancy, OpenOps for production-ready GKE stacks, and Cokpit for agentic AI DevOps. A Google Cloud Premier Partner with offices across the US, Canada, India, and the UAE, Zelar bets that most teams want cloud-native outcomes, not cloud-native homework.
Lucas Roh
Lucas Roh is a serial entrepreneur and computer scientist who founded and runs MetalSoft, a Chicago-based startup whose software automates bare metal data centers - turning racks of multi-vendor switches, servers, and storage into cloud-like, on-demand infrastructure. A former Argonne National Laboratory researcher in automatic differentiation, he built the global web host Hostway (1998-2013), launched the big data cloud Bigstep, and spun MetalSoft out of Hostway's internal tooling in 2019. In December 2022 MetalSoft raised a $16 million Series A led by DNS Capital.

Adam Jacob
Adam Jacob is the co-founder of Chef (the infrastructure automation company acquired for $220M) and current CEO of System Initiative, a next-generation DevOps platform using digital twins to visually model and simulate infrastructure. A self-taught systems engineer who ran ISPs as a teenager and built automated infrastructure for 15 startups before co-founding Opscode/Chef in 2008, Jacob created the Chef, InSpec, and Habitat open-source tools that helped define the DevOps movement. Today he advocates for rebuilding DevOps from the ground up, arguing that tooling and culture must evolve together - and that Infrastructure as Code, as practiced, is still broken.

Author of three O'Reilly books — 'Terraform: Up & Running' (now in its 3rd edition), 'Hello, Startup', and 'Fundamentals of DevOps and Software Delivery' (2025) — he has spent 15+ years building infrastructure that served hundreds of millions of users at LinkedIn, TripAdvisor, Cisco Systems, and Thomson Financial. At Gruntwork, he helped pioneer the idea of treating infrastructure like software: testable, reusable, and versioned.
