Derk Arts
Derk Arts is a Dutch physician-turned-entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Castor, a clinical-trial software company he started in 2012 after coding the first version of its Electronic Data Capture platform himself. Trained as a medical doctor and epidemiologist with a PhD, he built Castor to make clinical research more inclusive, patient-centric, and data-driven. The platform now supports thousands of trials across roughly 90 countries and was used by the World Health Organization for its Solidarity Trial. Castor has raised more than $60 million, including a $45 million Series B in 2021, and Arts is a recognized voice on decentralized trials, eConsent, and the responsible use of AI in research.
Scott Weidley
Scott Weidley is President, CEO and Chief Engineer of ClinCapture, the Las Vegas eClinical company that built its reputation on giving away validated electronic data capture software for free. With two decades in cloud and clinical software, Weidley has steered ClinCapture's Captivate platform toward AI baked into the structural layer of trial design, championed a low-and-no-cost access program called Weidley's Wish, and reinvented himself as a podcaster whose show 'Vibe with Scott Weidley' broadcasts from Vegas and has crossed three million YouTube views.
Mike Novotny
Mike Novotny is the founder and CEO of Medrio, a San Francisco-based eClinical SaaS company he started in his apartment in 2005. Over 15 years he bootstrapped Medrio into a nine-figure company that has helped customers win regulatory approvals for more than 100 treatments. After a sabbatical researching organizational development, he returned as CEO in 2025, betting that AI will reshape clinical trial data management. Before Medrio, he was CEO of Telosa, President of Ninaza, a UN research associate, and managed the fraud database at Visa. He holds degrees from Stanford, PUC Chile, and Columbia.
