Angèle Maki, PhD, is a biopharmaceutical business development executive with more than 20 years of deal-making across emerging biotechs and global pharma. In December 2025 she became the first Chief Business Officer of Ability Biotherapeutics, a Montreal-based company building logic-gated antibodies with its generative-AI platform AbiLeap. A Stanford-trained biological chemist who started at the University of Winnipeg, she has held senior roles at Medarex, Bristol Myers Squibb, Genentech, 23andMe, Merck, Eli Lilly, ReCode Therapeutics and Callio Therapeutics, and chairs the non-profit Canadian Entrepreneurs in Life Sciences.
Scott Peterson
Scott Peterson is the Chief Business Officer of T-Cypher Bio, an Oxford-based biotech building next-generation TCR therapeutics for solid tumors and autoimmune disease. A Harvard-trained PhD who started his career at the lab bench as a medicinal chemist at Merck, he crossed over to the deal side and spent two decades shaping pipelines and partnerships at Intarcia, Spero, and Dewpoint Therapeutics before taking the commercial helm at T-Cypher. He is the rare dealmaker who can read both a term sheet and a reaction mechanism.
Michael Boretti
Michael Boretti is the Chief Business Officer of Solu Therapeutics, a Boston biotech building a new class of cell-killing medicines on its CyTaC (Cytotoxicity Targeting Chimera) platform licensed from GSK. A bioengineer-turned-dealmaker with roughly two decades in biopharma, Boretti leads business development, strategic financing and alliance management. His earlier stops include CBO of Celsius Therapeutics, VP of Business Development at Epizyme, and VP of Corporate Development and Alliance Management at AVEO Oncology, where he helped shape partnerships with Astellas, Novartis and Janssen. He holds a B.S. in engineering science from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
Richard Law
Richard Law is the Chief Business Officer of HAYA Therapeutics, the Lausanne- and San Diego-based biotech decoding the 'dark genome' to build RNA-guided medicines that reprogram disease-driving cell states. A computational chemist turned dealmaker with a Oxford PhD in molecular biophysics and an Imperial MBA, he spent over a decade at Evotec, then steered Exscientia through its 2021 Nasdaq IPO, marquee pharma partnerships, and 2024 merger with Recursion before joining HAYA in March 2025 to drive its partnering strategy and growth.
Josh Carle
Josh Carle is the Chief Business Officer of Hinge Bio, a Burlingame, California biotech building multivalent, multispecific antibody therapies on its GEM-DIMER platform. A dealmaker by trade, he has led or advised more than fifty strategic transactions worth over $2 billion in disclosed deal value, moving from Pfizer Oncology and Daiichi Sankyo to immuno-oncology startup Triumvira before joining Hinge Bio in January 2023 to steer its lead lupus program toward the clinic.
Kim Jaffe
Kim Jaffe, PhD, is Chief Business Officer at BlueSphere Bio, a Pittsburgh-based clinical-stage biotech building personalized T-cell receptor therapies for cancer using its TCXpress discovery platform. A bench scientist turned dealmaker, she trained in cell and molecular biology at Northwestern and Princeton, ran cell-line development and R&D at clinical-stage oncology companies, and now leads strategy, partnerships, and business development as the company pushes TCR T-cell candidates toward high-risk leukemias.
