SE Ranking follows the answer.

A tool built to check Google rankings now watches AI answers and owns a social publishing platform. The thread connecting all three is the work of getting a business found.

The trouble began with a number. Valery Kurilov was running another internet project when he wanted to know where it ranked in search. In his account, the available tools were not giving him ranking information he trusted. His team built an internal tracker. Then the tracker accumulated features, and the internal tool became a business. SE Ranking dates that business to 2013.

The quick read / 01
  • The job: research search demand, diagnose websites and track visibility.
  • The buyer: agencies and marketing teams with recurring work to deliver.
  • The turn: AI answers and social publishing now sit beside traditional SEO.

This is a useful origin because it begins with a modest irritation: a professional could not confidently measure his work. Today SE Ranking sells a much broader collection of tools, but that irritation remains recognizable. A marketer changes a page. A client asks whether it helped. Somewhere between those two events, somebody needs evidence.

The report was eating the afternoon

Consider Fractional Teams, a B2B marketing and product consultancy. In SE Ranking’s June 2025 customer account, the agency described assembling reports with data from SEO tools and visuals made in Canva and Google Slides. A single report could take four to five hours. The friction came from the handoffs: collecting numbers, building slides and making contributions from different colleagues look consistent.

The agency moved reporting into SE Ranking’s Report Builder. Initial setup fell to about 30 minutes; finished reports, with comments and insights, took under two hours. Overall reporting time fell by around half, according to the published account. The distinction matters. Human interpretation still took time.

Solomiia Bodnar, the agency’s business analyst, put the attraction plainly: “The main advantage is that everything is in one place.” That describes a commercially useful kind of software. It removes repeated assembly work from a job that still requires judgment.

A toolkit built around Tuesday

SE Ranking’s ordinary working day runs through keyword research, competitor analysis, daily rank tracking, technical website audits and backlink checks. Content tools help prepare briefs and improve pages. Local Marketing addresses business listings, reviews and local visibility. These are connected chores: find an opportunity, inspect the page, make a change, then watch what happens.

For agencies, the package extends into delivery. Agency Pack provides white-label branding, client access, automated reports and a lead-generation widget. An agency can put its own identity on the interface and give clients selected views. That helps explain the company’s place in a market containing Semrush, Ahrefs and specialist tools: it competes for the recurring workflow of running and explaining SEO.

The customer base includes in-house teams as well as agencies. The company says more than a million businesses, agencies and SEO professionals have used its platform since 2013. Treat that as a cumulative reach claim. It does not tell you how many subscriptions are active today.

When the answer leaves the results page

The next measurement problem is more awkward. A prospective customer asks an AI assistant for a recommendation. The answer may name several businesses, cite a website or omit a brand entirely. A traditional keyword position cannot describe all of that. SE Ranking’s response in 2025 included an AI Search Toolkit and a separate product, SE Visible.

The distinction is practical. SE Ranking supports hands-on SEO research and optimization. SE Visible examines how brands appear in AI-generated answers: mentions, competitive presence, sentiment and the sources behind responses. A marketing manager can investigate how the brand is described, while an SEO specialist works on the underlying website and content.

A new question for the dashboard: did the machine remember you? SE Visible’s interface, shown in the company’s February 2026 roadmap.

Then came the less obvious move. On August 4, 2025, SE Ranking announced its acquisition of Planable, a platform for planning, discussing, approving and scheduling social content. Planable served more than 7,000 agencies and teams, according to the announcement. The purchase brought social collaboration into the group; the deal price was not disclosed.

The company’s explanation was that discovery now crosses search, social and AI. Its February 2026 roadmap prioritized making the product family work together. There is a clear business logic here: the agency already managing a client’s visibility may also manage its publishing. The opportunity depends on making those handoffs useful enough to justify another product.

The price of fewer handoffs

At the time of research, Core costs $129 a month, or $103.20 a month billed annually. It includes ten projects, one manager seat, 2,000 daily tracked keywords and an allowance of 100 daily prompts. Growth costs $279 monthly, or $223.20 on annual billing, with higher limits. Enterprise pricing is customized.

Agency Pack starts at another $69 a month, billed annually, and requires an annual subscription. Seats, capacity and add-ons therefore belong in the buying calculation. The right comparison is the total bill against the specific work a team can retire. SE Ranking’s integrations with Google Analytics, Search Console, Looker Studio and automation tools help connect that work.

A useful trial therefore starts with one real client or website. Record the time needed to assemble the current report, then reproduce it in the new system. Check whether the keywords, locations and client views you need fit the subscription. Ask the person receiving the report what they can actually understand and use. A faster export only saves money if the team can stop doing the old version of the job.

That also sets a boundary on the all-in-one proposition. A specialist with a single narrow requirement may prefer a dedicated tool. A team managing several connected tasks has more handoffs available to remove.

Its own financing changed too. Kurilov described the business as profitable and without outside investment in his 2018 interview. By December 2021, Camber Partners publicly identified SE Ranking as an investment. The amount invested in the company was not stated in that announcement.

Copy the workflow, then check the result

The transferable lesson is to begin with a recurring task. Standardize the report, connect the data, keep the commentary and measure the hours recovered. For AI monitoring, define the prompts and markets that matter before interpreting a visibility score. A sample of answers can expose omissions; it cannot establish sales impact by itself.

This approach needs someone able to act on the findings. A team with no capacity to repair pages or improve content will mostly acquire a clearer view of unfinished work. SE Ranking began by making a number more trustworthy. Its expanding business now depends on helping customers decide what to do after they see it.
