GUIZIO

The independent New York womenswear house that turned a $400 graphic tee into a signature-corset empire.

The Story

From a New Jersey Basement to Greene Street

GUIZIO is proof that a fashion brand can still be built the hard way - one silhouette at a time, without a design degree or an investor deck.

Danielle Guizio was leaving fashion school in 2014 when she launched a label under her own name with a run of graphic tees. They sold out. What followed was less a viral moment than a decade of compounding: a passion project run out of her parents' New Jersey basement with $400 in savings grew, season by season, into an international ready-to-wear house.

The self-taught designer built the brand around a point of view rather than a trend. GUIZIO reads the spirit of New York's subcultures and reflects it back through womenswear - what the brand calls "subversive sensuality." Woven knits, structured suiting and, above all, signature corsets became the vocabulary.

By September 2024, the label had earned its first physical home: a flagship at 81 Greene Street in SoHo, designed with interior designer Brandi Howe around travertine walls and polished marble floors. Showrooms in Milan and Paris anchor the brand abroad.

Along the way, GUIZIO became a name celebrities reached for on their own - the Hadids, the Kardashian-Jenners, Rosalia, Blackpink and Lady Gaga among them - drawn to the corsets and form-fitting silhouettes that read as both femininity and armor.

"Celebrating the modern-day woman who aims to deviate from the traditional and push boundaries in all aspects of life."

What It Does

The Corset as Signature

GUIZIO designs and sells women's ready-to-wear: corsets, structured suiting, dresses, tops, skirts, denim, outerwear, intimates and loungewear. The signature corset - emboldened with asymmetrical details, purposeful cut-outs, ruching and custom hardware - is the through-line that ties the collections together and the item most associated with the brand.

CUSTOMER

Who Buys It

Fashion-forward Gen Z and millennial women drawn to Y2K-inflected, form-fitting design - plus an international direct-to-consumer following and a self-selected celebrity clientele.

PROBLEM

What It Solves

It gives that customer clothing built to empower rather than conform - pieces engineered around the female form that read as confidence rather than costume.

EDGE

Why It's Different

Founder-led, self-taught and independent. GUIZIO grew on earned attention and a consistent silhouette rather than outside capital or a heavy PR machine.

Business Model

Direct, With Selective Doors

GUIZIO sells primarily direct-to-consumer through its own storefront, supplemented by wholesale partners and physical retail.

The brand runs its e-commerce on Shopify Plus, keeping the customer relationship in-house and layering on tools like Klaviyo, Gorgias and Attentive for lifecycle marketing and service. Selective wholesale placement at retailers such as SSENSE and Kith extends reach without diluting the brand, while showrooms in Milan and Paris and the SoHo flagship give it a physical footprint. The 2024 PUMA collaboration added a licensing-style channel and cross-audience exposure.

Own the customer first. Retail is a chapter, not the opening line.
Where It Fits

The Market Position

GUIZIO sits in independent contemporary womenswear, squarely inside the Y2K revival and the resurgence of the corset. It competes for the same customer as feminine-forward, design-led labels like Mirror Palais, Poster Girl, Namilia, Miaou, I.AM.GIA and Nensi Dojaka - but leans on a self-taught, founder-driven identity and a decade of consistent silhouette-building as its differentiator.
