The whole country, delivered - iconic regional dishes and gourmet food shipped from more than 1,000 restaurants to your door.
GOLDBELLY. The marketplace built on a simple, homesick question - could a restaurant a thousand miles away just ship the food to you? Photographed here: the wordmark of a company that turned nostalgia into national delivery. — in the style of Vincent Musi
Goldbelly is an online marketplace that ships America's most iconic dishes - the deep-dish pizza from Chicago, the hot chicken from Nashville, the cheesecake from Brooklyn - from more than 1,000 restaurants, bakeries, and food makers directly to customers across all 50 states.
The idea started with a feeling. Founder Joe Ariel, a Vanderbilt graduate, fell in love with Nashville hot chicken in college. When he moved to New York, he missed it - and wondered why a restaurant couldn't simply ship it to him. When the first box arrived, menus and grease stains and all, he says he was moved to tears. His conclusion has become the company's founding line: nostalgia is the most delicious ingredient anyone could imagine.
Where much of food-tech raced toward speed - faster delivery of the food already down the street - Goldbelly went the other direction. It focused on the food you cannot get locally: regional legends, celebrated bakeries, dishes that supposedly could not travel. The bet was that most of them could, with the right packaging and cold-chain logistics.
Founded in 2013 as "Goldbely" (one L) in a San Francisco townhouse by Ariel, Trevor Stow, Vanessa Torrivilla, and Joel Gillman, the company was accepted into Y Combinator and named one of Time's 50 Best Websites that same year. It moved its headquarters to New York in 2017 and rebranded to "Goldbelly" in 2018.
Today the catalog reads like a road trip you never took - Detroit-style pizza, New Orleans beignets, Kansas City burnt ends - all a single checkout away.

Everyday consumers ordering iconic dishes, food gifts, and celebrity-chef kits make up the core. A second audience is businesses using Goldbelly's customized corporate gifting - sending curated food boxes at scale. Gifting drives much of the demand: holidays, celebrations, and long-distance "thinking of you" boxes.
Great local food is trapped by geography. A famous restaurant can only serve people who show up in person. Goldbelly removes the distance - giving independent makers a national storefront and giving customers access to specialties they would otherwise have to travel for. During the pandemic, that model became a lifeline: roughly 400 new vendors joined as dining rooms closed.
Order signature dishes and gourmet food from 1,000+ restaurants and food makers, shipped nationwide.
A subscription of celebrity-chef meal kits - Jose Andres, David Chang, Daniel Boulud, Michael Anthony - with ingredients to feed up to four.
Curated gift boxes and gift cards for holidays and celebrations, from mail-order legends to limited editions.
Customized, bulk corporate food-gift programs for businesses and clients.
Rotating specialty-food subscription boxes delivered on a schedule.
Super Bowl tailgate kits, food-festival kits, and game-day boxes for events at home.
Legacy food-gift catalogs like Williams Sonoma, Harry & David, and Zingerman's sell their own or a narrow selection of goods. Goldbelly is a curated marketplace of independent iconic restaurants - breadth, authenticity, and the specific pull of named, place-based dishes. It doesn't build kitchens; it builds the rails that let existing legends reach a national audience.
Its differentiators, in short:
Goldbelly is a marketplace. Partner restaurants prepare and ship their own signature items; Goldbelly takes a share of each transaction, plus revenue from shipping, gifting, subscriptions, and B2B corporate programs. It handles discovery, logistics coordination, and shipping so vendors reach the whole country without building their own e-commerce operation.
It sits at the intersection of e-commerce, specialty food, gifting, and logistics - a national layer on top of local restaurants. Reported revenue estimates sit near $75.8M, with private valuation estimates ranging from several hundred million to over $1B.
