Company / The invisible work

Avanto makes the paperwork move.

A furniture order can cross half a dozen desks before a chair arrives. Avanto is building a business around the work that gets stuck between them.

A chair has a finish, a fabric, a price, a quantity, and a promised arrival date. A furniture order has all those things, plus several opportunities for one company’s version of reality to diverge from another’s. The manufacturer sends a PDF. The dealer enters the details. An acknowledgment comes back. Somebody checks it. Eventually, somebody has to get paid. The chair is stationary. The paperwork travels.

Avanto works on that journey. It sells automation software and operational services to commercial furniture manufacturers, dealers, rep groups, and installers. Its territory is the stretch between quote and cash: converting documents, checking orders, coordinating suppliers, and keeping financial records straight. In a business full of beautiful objects, Avanto has chosen to make the administrative machinery its subject.

The quick read
  • Furniture operations software, paired with managed services.
  • Strata connects existing tools; OrderBahn features in customer accounts.
  • The opportunity: fewer re-keyed documents and faster financial workflows.

01A PDF walks into a dealership

Consider the manufacturer’s quote. It arrives as a PDF, but the dealer’s specification software wants structured data. Avanto’s Strata converts that PDF into a Standard Item File, or SIF, or an XML file for import. Part numbers, finishes, quantities, and list prices cross the boundary without somebody typing every field again. It is a small-sounding service with a wonderfully specific customer: the person who has already entered this information once.

The same logic continues downstream. A manufacturer’s acknowledgment needs checking against the purchase order. An invoice needs matching before payment. An absent PO number needs resolving. At Insidesource, Avanto’s published customer account describes an automated email asking suppliers to resubmit invoices with missing PO numbers. The useful intelligence here includes knowing when the document is incomplete.

02The bottleneck wore an accounting badge

NextGen Security provides a particularly clear example, outside Avanto’s furniture heartland. Its finance executive, Dwight Smith, described a growing company facing a familiar choice: add accounting staff or change the process. OrderBahn, Avanto’s document and workflow platform, automated accounts-payable processing. Weekly invoice throughput rose from about 150 to more than 300 without adding a team member, according to the customer case study.

Smith estimated the avoided staffing cost at $75,000 annually, or $225,000 across three years. Those figures describe his estimate of labor savings. A buyer’s own calculation must include the engagement fee, integration work, and ongoing review. The transferable idea is to count completed transactions and staff hours before buying automation, then measure the same things afterward.

At Workscapes, a MillerKnoll dealership, CFO Mehmet Bakkaloglu reported another kind of delay: delivery tickets could take a couple of weeks to trigger billing. With OrderBahn workflows, that became two days. An invoice moving sooner matters to the person watching cash flow, even if the customer never notices the software involved.

03The automation company needed an intervention

Avanto has experienced its own version of disconnected operations. An ERP Success Partners case study describes the company outgrowing QuickBooks Online, briefly adopting Zoho, and discovering that separate databases made information difficult to combine and analyze. Low cost and useful modules had initially appealed. International operations exposed the limits of that arrangement.

The company then adopted NetSuite with ERP Success Partners for financial reporting, CRM, time tracking, and project management. The account describes a business coordinating colleagues across the United States, India, and South America. Its lesson is practical: buying several useful tools does not, by itself, produce one coherent operation.

04Keep the ERP. Fix the handoff.

That experience makes Avanto’s current positioning interesting. Strata, launched in February 2026, is sold as an operational layer alongside existing ERP, CRM, and ordering systems. Customers can activate selected capabilities. The company’s integration page distinguishes systems its teams work inside from connectors it has actually delivered, including a NetSuite connector and PDF-to-SIF or XML conversion.

This puts Avanto between categories. An ERP stores the business record. A document tool captures information. An outsourcing provider supplies people. Avanto combines software, integration, industry consulting, and managed operations. Its competitive argument rests on familiarity with furniture’s documents and exceptions, plus responsibility for the surrounding work. A generic automation tool can perform steps; someone still has to understand which steps belong together.

For a rep group, the work includes order visibility and commission tracking. For a manufacturer, it includes cleaner inbound orders and coordination with dealers. For an installer, timely information helps connect delivery with the work scheduled on site. These customers share a supply chain, but their administrative problems occur at different points. That is why the industry focus matters to the offering.

The product story also has two names. OrderBahn appears throughout Avanto’s customer accounts and remains linked from its website. Strata carries the current proposition of coordinating work across companies and systems. In December 2025, Avanto acquired Agentic Dream, adding its AI automation team and technology. The acquisition announcement connects that expansion to more complex, multi-party workflows.

05People still open the exceptions

Co-founder and president Matthew Danyliw describes a career spanning CPA consulting and dealership CFO and COO roles. That background helps explain the emphasis on transactions, controls, and follow-through. Avanto’s financial services reach from bookkeeping and collections to controller and fractional CFO support. At Working Spaces, COO Tim Carroll put the relationship plainly: “Avanto is our accounting department.”

The commercial model therefore extends beyond access to an application. Customers can engage Avanto for operational services and tailored automation work. Its stated values include continuous improvement and collaboration; the customer stories make those abstractions concrete through repeated adjustments to existing processes. In BKM’s account, employees who initially had concerns eventually began suggesting improvements themselves. Seeing useful changes helped participation grow.

06Start with the document everyone touches

There is a sensible way to borrow this approach. Choose one recurring handoff, such as quote conversion or invoice matching. Establish who owns the input, what a correct output looks like, and who reviews discrepancies. Preserve the exception queue. Measure turnaround time alongside errors and effort. Expand once the first workflow behaves reliably.

A dealer can seek transaction processing or broader financial oversight, with different measures of success for each engagement.

That method needs repeatable work, usable inputs, and people authorized to resolve problems. Sparse transaction volume may leave too little clerical effort to recover. Inconsistent source data or unclear approval rules require attention before automation can carry them safely. Avanto itself offers readiness assessments to identify process, data, and system gaps before investment. A faster handoff is valuable only when the next person can trust what arrives.
