The assignment sounded simple: teach people to listen. The University of Wisconsin-Extension wanted training in workplace communication. But listening is inconveniently difficult to capture in a textbook. Someone can recite the rules and still interrupt a colleague before lunch. So ansrsource helped turn the lesson into filmed meetings, complete with scripts, actors, and timestamped examples of good and bad listening.
- The buyer: an organization with people to teach and too much learning work to do.
- The offering: custom courses, assessments, accessibility services, and training software.
- The distinction: subject expertise and production capacity alongside tools that handle delivery and administration.
01 / FROM THE PAGE TO THE MEETINGThe meeting became the lesson
That project is a useful entrance into ansrsource. Founded in 2003, the company began with textbook assets and grew into broader learning design. Rajiv Narayana, a founding member and CEO since 2013, came from financial journalism. His professional inheritance was the business of making information intelligible. The company's later work added a harder question: what should someone be able to do after reading it?
An early obstacle was persuading institutions to work with the team. The reason to evolve was more substantive. Textbook modules did not always match the skills people needed at work. In Wisconsin's case, ansrsource coordinated auditions, worked with subject experts, and translated listening into assessable actions. The observable behavior gave the content its shape.

Today, its buyers include universities, publishers, corporations, associations, and government agencies. They buy learning expertise and the capacity to produce it: instructional design, subject knowledge, editing, multimedia, programming, and assessment. Its market position sits between a custom learning studio, an outsourced production team, and a software provider. An internal learning department is also an alternative.
02 / ACCESS HAS AN OPERATING COSTA PDF with an operating budget
Colorado makes that mixture tangible. For the state's Office of Information Technology, ansrsource developed a hub of 20 self-paced accessibility courses. For public-health and education agencies, it describes ongoing document remediation. This is work on reading order, image descriptions, tables, and other details that determine whether digital material is usable with assistive technology.
The public-health engagement also reveals how the service is purchased: batch-based pricing, a minimum spending commitment, and a do-not-exceed limit. A dedicated program manager oversees the work. Those provisions address a practical problem: document volumes fluctuate, while budgets demand boundaries. Buyers can copy the contract logic without copying the vendor.
ansrAccess, launched in February 2024, packages accessibility as a managed service. Its promise combines automation with human oversight rather than leaving the customer with a list of defects. In July 2025, ansrsource announced a partnership with D2L to co-create Accessibility+ for Brightspace, extending that model into a platform institutions already use.
“We begin where others end.”

The July 2026 ansrAccess pilot takes integration further. Over 90 days, participating institutions get a baseline scan, guided fixes, and access to expert remediation inside existing learning workflows. The announcement says automated corrections go to instructors for review before publication. Contextual problems can be escalated to specialists. This is a sensible acknowledgment that a machine can flag a problem without understanding the entire lesson.
03 / THE SPREADSHEET GETS A RIVALThe calendar gets its own product
Training has another unglamorous dependency: logistics. A thoughtful onboarding course becomes useless if its facilitator is elsewhere. ansrTMS Enterprise, announced in July 2025, addresses cohort administration with reusable templates, conflict flags, facilitator matching, attendance tracking, and integrations with Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
The product was designed with longstanding client Hilti. Its multi-phase, multi-location onboarding supplied real complexity to solve. ansrsource's Chief Innovation Officer, Rachel Walter, had spent 19 years at Hilti leading learning work. That background helps explain the attention to administration. The joint award submission earned a 2025 Brandon Hall bronze for instructor-led training management and delivery, announced in January 2026.
04 / SMALL LESSONS, SERIOUS SUBJECTSTen minutes, with a larger machine behind it
Not every assignment needs a film crew. ansrGEM offers a library of roughly ten-minute courses. GranuLearn supplies a mobile-first LMS with support for clients' own material, outside content providers, and the ansrAcademy library. Its 2025 launch describes xAPI-based tracking, which records learning activity. The distinction matters: ansrTMS coordinates programs; GranuLearn delivers learning.

Short content can still be specific. The company's Cocoa Material School for Mars used video, animation, interactions, and scenarios to teach cocoa quality and supplier auditing. It earned a 2019 compliance-training bronze. The amusing subject conceals an ordinary corporate requirement: people must recognize problems and perform a process, rather than merely acknowledge a policy.
GranuLearn's public pricing page lists a free tier for up to ten users and monthly paid tiers of $19, $29, and $49 per user. Custom development and managed remediation are separate scope-dependent purchases; verify current terms before budgeting.
A buyer comparing alternatives should separate three jobs: deciding what to teach, producing the material, and running the program. A platform purchase covers only part of that chain. ansrsource can take on several parts, while a capable internal team may prefer to keep design and outsource production. The useful comparison is the work covered by the contract, the review responsibilities, and the evidence that learners can apply the result.
05 / A METHOD WORTH BORROWINGBorrow the method, then test the fit
The business model combines custom projects, managed services, and licensed products. That breadth gives organizations several entry points: commission a course, repair inaccessible material, or improve training coordination. Its July 2025 partnership with ANSR also brought its learning approach to India's global capability centers. The announcement's performance projections should be read as ambitions.
The useful lesson is to diagnose the bottleneck before choosing the artifact. Define the behavior, name the owner, and test a manageable slice of the work. This approach fits organizations with recurring learning needs and enough internal commitment to act on feedback. It becomes less useful when the underlying problem is poor incentives, missing equipment, or a process nobody has authority to change. Even a beautifully designed course cannot arrange the rest of the workplace.
