The company sells that idea to commercial growers under the AEtrium brand - modular, stackable "SmartFarm" hardware wired with precision sensors - paired with a control platform called Guardian Grow Manager. Guardian watches grow conditions around the clock and, when something drifts, adjusts nutrients, irrigation, pH, temperature, humidity, air, or lighting to keep conditions optimal year-round. Cannabis Equipment News once described the setup as a "player piano for plants": load a grow recipe, press play, and the farm performs it note for note.
Founder and chief executive Robert Chen brought a semiconductor and precision-electronics sensibility from the Valley into the cultivation business - tolerances, feedback loops, and data logs where growers usually rely on instinct. Every AEtrium grow cycle is recorded so it can be captured, reused, and redeployed exactly. For a commercial operator, that log file is the point: a lucky harvest becomes a documented process.
AEssenseGrows started with cannabis, the crop with the margins to justify heavy automation, and its systems now run from North America to Europe, Israel, and South Africa. But the underlying platform was never crop-specific. In 2020 the company launched a sister brand, AEssenseFresh, to point the same technology at leafy greens, herbs, and vertical-farm operators in education, restaurants, pharma, and commercial food.
