Casana
Casana is a Rochester, New York digital-health company that builds the Smart Seat (originally the Heart Seat), a toilet-seat replacement that passively measures vital signs - heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen, respiration rate and blood pressure insights - while a person simply sits, with no wearables, charging or behavior change required. Spun out of research done by founder Nicholas Conn during his PhD at the Rochester Institute of Technology, the company earned FDA 510(k) clearance in 2023 and launched a consumer version of the seat in July 2026.
Olivia Lew
Olivia Lew runs Casana, a Rochester, New York company that turned a toilet seat into an FDA-cleared cardiovascular monitor. A former General Catalyst principal and Capgemini consultant with an MBA from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business, she was an early investor in Casana before joining as an operator. She sits on the Boston American Heart Association board and has spent the last few years arguing, in podcasts and press, that the most reliable way to check on someone's heart is to stop asking them to do anything at all.

Toi Labs makes TrueLoo, an AI-powered smart toilet seat that turns every flush into passive health data. It fits on an existing toilet, optically scans stool and urine (never body parts), and flags concerning changes - blood, cloudy urine, loose stool, or 72 hours without a bowel movement - so care staff at senior living communities can follow up faster. Founded in San Francisco by serial healthcare entrepreneur Vik Kashyap, the company was named a TIME Best Invention of 2024 and is deployed across more than 300 senior care communities in North America.
