Fast Made Checkout One Click. The Business Took Many More.
Fast promised to spare shoppers another password, another form and another abandoned cart. The button worked; the company behind it could not make the numbers work.
Bolt
Bolt is a San Francisco fintech building a one-click checkout network for online retailers. It connects merchants and shoppers through a single, cross-site identity, layering payments, fraud prevention, and AI-personalized flows on top. After a turbulent stretch following its 2022 peak, Bolt has been rebuilding through partnerships with Palantir, Klarna, Affirm, and Checkout.com, and a return of founder Ryan Breslow to the CEO seat.
Ryan Breslow
Ryan Breslow is the founder and CEO of Bolt, the one-click checkout company he built after dropping out of Stanford in 2014. Having once reached an $11 billion valuation and briefly becoming one of the world's youngest self-made billionaires, Breslow has led the company through a dramatic 97% valuation collapse and a gritty comeback - returning as CEO in 2025 in 'wartime' mode to rebuild Bolt as an AI-first payments SuperApp with roughly 100 employees.
