Byte is a Lahore-based food company that owns the whole plate - it cooks its own branded meals inside delivery-only dark kitchens and gets them to customers cheaply and fast. Founded in 2020 by former Uber Pakistan GM Safee Shah, it became the first Pakistani consumer internet startup backed by Y Combinator (S20). Instead of being a marketplace listing other restaurants, Byte runs its own in-house brands - fried chicken, biryani, pizza and wings - which lets it undercut incumbents like Foodpanda while controlling quality end to end.
FoodCourt
FoodCourt (legally CoKitchen) is a Lagos-based cloud-kitchen company that owns and operates a portfolio of virtual restaurant brands, cooks the food itself, and delivers through its own app. By ditching the aggregator model that simply connects restaurants to eaters, FoodCourt controls the menu, the kitchen, and the logistics end-to-end, letting it sell quality meals at scale across Lagos and Abuja. Backed by Y Combinator (S22), it reached profitability in 2024 and has delivered millions of meals.
Krave Mart
Krave Mart is a Karachi-based quick-commerce grocery startup that delivers everyday household essentials from a network of neighborhood dark stores, typically in 30 minutes. Founded in 2021 and part of Y Combinator's Summer 2022 batch, it raised what was then Pakistan's largest pre-seed round and built its model around sustainable unit economics and private-label products rather than pure delivery speed. In 2026 it was acquired by ride-hailing company inDrive to power grocery delivery inside inDrive's app.
Jingle
Jingle is a Menlo Park marketplace that flips food and services delivery on its head. Instead of the usual model where a courier is dispatched to fetch your order, Jingle runs a 'push' model: mobile stores - shops on wheels - stocked with ice cream, pastries, and services like grooming or knife sharpening drive through neighborhoods and ping nearby users through the app when they roll by. Think ice cream truck, but with software, a map, and a flat $2.99 delivery fee. Founded in 2022 by former venture capitalist Baris Karadogan, the company raised a $2.9M seed round led by Bessemer Venture Partners to help local and artisanal vendors go mobile, reach customers directly, and skip the fees and wait times of conventional delivery apps.
