Alex Schmelkin is the founder and CEO of Sixfold, a New York company building generative AI for insurance underwriting. After two decades founding and running digital design and software firms - Alexander Interactive, Cake & Arrow, and a founding role at no-code pioneer Unqork - he launched Sixfold in 2023 to give underwriters a virtual team of AI researchers that reads submissions, scores risk, and shows its sources. Sixfold has processed more than a million submissions across 40-plus lines of business, raised a $30M Series B in 2026, and counts Zurich North America, Guardian, and Generali among its clients.
