Autumn is a New York-based deathcare startup that built what it called the world's first deathcare marketplace: a free platform that walks bereaved Americans through the tangle of tasks that follow a death - funerals, estates, probate, moving, grief - with step-by-step guides and a directory of more than 500,000 local providers like funeral homes, estate attorneys, financial planners and grief specialists. Launched in July 2022 with a $600,000 pre-seed round led by Bullish, the company made the process free for grieving families and earned revenue from providers who paid to be listed.
Compassus
Compassus is a national home-based care company headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, delivering hospice, palliative care, home health and home infusion services to patients wherever they call home. Jointly owned by TowerBrook Capital Partners and the Catholic health system Ascension, Compassus operates across roughly 30 states with about 8,000 employees and has built its growth around joint ventures with major health systems - including OhioHealth, Providence and Ascension - so that hospitals can extend care into the home under a shared brand while Compassus runs the clinical operations.
Circles
Circles is a New York-based digital mental health company that connects people facing similar life challenges - grief, divorce, infertility, caregiving, narcissistic relationships - into small, professionally facilitated peer support groups. Founded in 2020 by Irad Eichler and Dan Landa, its mobile and web platform pairs trained therapists with groups of strangers who share a struggle, betting that being heard by people who actually understand is its own form of medicine. The company has raised $24.5M and grown to more than 160,000 members.
