Digital Power Optimization (DPO) is a New York-based energy services company that builds and operates 'power-first' flexible data centers at renewable power plants. Its on-site data centers - running bitcoin mining and AI workloads - consume electricity only when it is curtailed, wasted, or undervalued, then curtail during peak demand so power can be sold back to the grid. The model lets hydro, wind, and other generators capture over $100/MWh from otherwise stranded power while helping stabilize the grid.
Tyba
Tyba is a San Francisco-based climate software company that helps energy companies develop, model, and operate battery energy storage projects more profitably. Its AI-driven platform pairs a Project Simulation product - which backtests and forecasts revenue for storage assets in development - with an Asset Operations product that automates real-time bidding and dispatch in wholesale power markets like ERCOT and CAISO. Founded in 2022 by former energy developers and infrastructure engineers, Tyba positions itself as the 'autopilot for batteries,' emphasizing transparent, non-black-box optimization. The company raised a $13.9M Series A led by Energize Capital in February 2025.
AMPL Optimization
AMPL Optimization builds the algebraic modeling language of the same name - a tool that lets engineers and analysts describe huge, messy real-world decision problems in clean mathematical notation and then hand them to any of dozens of solvers. Born at Bell Labs in the 1980s and now an independent California company, AMPL is used by more than 100 corporations across 40-plus industries to run optimization in production, from power grids and supply chains to portfolios and airline schedules.
Bill Wells
Bill Wells is the CEO of AMPL Optimization Inc., the Mountain View company behind AMPL, the algebraic modeling language born at Bell Labs that has long been a gold standard for large-scale mathematical optimization. Dr. Christopher Cuong T.
