The Barcode That Became a Business
A consultant saw cannabis growers copying barcodes onto paper. Six years later, Canix is trying to make that small absurdity the beginning of a more useful operating system.
Blaine Hatab Built the Ledger Behind Legal Cannabis
He started with a $30,000 check and a narrow sales tool. Then customers pulled Distru into the far messier business of making cannabis inventory, orders, and compliance agree.
Distru
Distru is an Oakland-based software company that builds a purpose-made ERP for the licensed cannabis industry. Its seed-to-sale platform unifies inventory, order fulfillment, manufacturing, CRM, and financial tools while keeping operators compliant through deep two-way integrations with state track-and-trace systems like Metrc and BioTrack. Founded in 2016 and led by CEO Blaine Hatab, Distru serves cannabis distributors, manufacturers, cultivators, and retailers across roughly 25 states and processes more than $2 billion in transactions annually.
