Libra Solutions puts a price on waiting.

A personal injury claim can have value long before it pays. Libra Solutions connects funding, medical care and paperwork in the gap - with a business built around who can afford to wait.

A settlement has an awkward property: it can be worth something before it can buy anything. An injured person may have a claim, an attorney and a long recovery ahead. The rent still arrives on schedule. So does the electricity bill. Libra Solutions has assembled a business around that mismatch, connecting the money people need today with the legal processes that might pay them later.

THE SHORT VERSION
  • Cash before resolution: Oasis Financial funds qualifying plaintiffs; Probate Advance serves eligible heirs.
  • One place for the case: MoveDocs connects care options, records, bills and funding information.
  • The tradeoff: early access to money reduces what remains from the eventual recovery.

The bills arrive first

The origin is suitably practical. Oasis Financial says attorneys founded it in 2003 after seeing clients struggle with medical bills and living expenses while their cases remained unresolved. A claim’s legal strength did little for the household budget. Funding offered a way to carry on while the lawyer carried on.

Today, Oasis sits inside Libra alongside medical funding businesses and Probate Advance. The latter serves beneficiaries waiting for estates to distribute money. Different paperwork, familiar predicament. In both situations, the company examines a prospective payment and offers access to some of its value before the process finishes.

This places Libra at the intersection of consumer finance, healthcare administration and legal technology. Its customers include injured people and heirs, but also the professionals handling their affairs. The lawyer wants records. The medical provider wants payment. The client wants treatment and enough cash to get through the month.

The file is part of the financing

MoveDocs makes the combination more interesting than a collection of cash-advance brands. Launched in 2006, the platform lets law firms find medical provider options, track appointments and collect bills and records. It advertises free access and an interactive directory with more than 10,000 provider options across more than 40 specialties.

The ordinary detail matters here: a bill or record that reaches the right case file saves somebody another request. MoveDocs also puts Oasis applications, funding histories and payoff information into the workflow. A payoff letter states what must be paid back; having it available helps a lawyer understand the deductions surrounding a settlement.

HOW THE PIECES CONNECTThree needs. One case.

MoveDocs connects the workflow; Libra’s funding businesses supply capital under separate agreements. Diagram is conceptual.

The platform connects with Filevine, Litify, SmartAdvocate and Clio. Its integration notices describe bills, records and payoffs flowing into existing case systems. The distinction is useful: these products can be partners in the same office. A firm need not treat every new service as a replacement for its case management software.

LawCash by Cartiga offers a competing route to plaintiff funding. Libra’s distinguishing proposition is the combination: financing alongside medical workflows and provider relationships. That breadth could reduce handoffs. Whether it improves a particular firm’s results still depends on its cases, providers and working habits.

A new name for a bigger bet

The portfolio grew through acquisitions. Key Health joined in 2017. Probate Advance was acquired in 2021, when Oasis also joined forces with MoveDocs, Canyon Medical and Medport. In February 2022, the parent adopted the Libra Solutions name. Oasis remained the name customers encountered for plaintiff funding.

Matt Milim, who founded Probate Advance in 2018, became Libra’s CEO in 2023. His biography supplies a personal connection: his father, a physician, suffered a personal injury accident in 2004 and could never work again. In June 2026, EY named Milim a Midwest Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner.

The Trio Solution acquisition in 2024 added another integration assignment. COO Krista Meardon’s biography describes aligning workforces and developing a common operating platform. Those are concrete demands behind the company’s collaborative culture: a shared corporate name still leaves people, processes and systems to connect.

Buying time comes with a bill

The economic exchange is straightforward even when the contracts differ. Money arrives early; a specified payment comes from the eventual recovery. Medical funding can involve purchasing or lending against medical lien receivables. Probate Advance collects from the estate. Free access to MoveDocs does not make those funding arrangements free.

Oasis says pricing depends on the case and is disclosed upon approval. Its agreement sets out fees and the assigned ownership amount. The sensible comparison is the cash received against the total payment required at different resolution dates. An attractive transfer speed tells you little about that calculation.

Speed also needs its small print. Oasis advertises cash in as little as 24 hours after approval. Its FAQ says application review averages about two business days after it speaks with the attorney. Missing documents or an unavailable attorney can interrupt that sequence. Underwriting approval comes before the advertised fast transfer.

Behind those individual advances sits institutional finance. Libra’s timeline records its first securitizations of pre-settlement and medical lien assets in 2020. Dentons describes advising on financing backed by litigation, medical lien and probate receivables. Expected payments can be pooled to support borrowing, giving the funding operation another source of capital.

Follow the handoff

The useful lesson for other businesses is to follow the moment work changes hands. Libra links the provider search to the medical record, and the funding request to the payoff. That is a practical design idea: put related information where the next person will need it.

There are limits. Funding requires an eligible case or estate, and availability varies by state. An advance consumes part of a future payment. A shared portal still relies on people supplying accurate information. Libra can help finance the wait and organize the work around it. The court keeps its own calendar.
