Idexcel takes the paperwork out of progress

The hard part of banking AI is the work around it: inconsistent documents, old applications and systems that must keep running. Idexcel has built a business in that gap.

The trouble was in the columns. JPalmer’s lending operation had Excel reports whose structures and headings kept changing. A person could interpret them. The existing rules could not. Every variation sent work back to a human, and growth depended on finding more human hours. It is a wonderfully ordinary place for an AI story to begin.

The useful version
  • Idexcel builds and runs enterprise software, cloud infrastructure and AI workflows.
  • Its lending work connects messy financial documents to usable, structured data.
  • InferIQ packages document processing into a product; integration and operations remain central to the offer.

The column header was the problem

Idexcel’s response used Amazon Bedrock to help interpret the documents, with a spreadsheet-like interface and a manual override. Crucially, the pipeline sent relevant data segments to models rather than entire files. The company reports processing costs of $0.10-$0.20 per document and processing times below ten minutes, compared with more than 45 minutes manually.

The instructive detail is the division of labor: let AI handle structural variation, preserve business rules, and give users control over exceptions. The case offers a practical response to a specific automation failure. A new model alone would not have supplied the interface, validation or connection to the lending workflow.

The migration that kept going

Co-founder Prasad Alapati started Idexcel in 1998 after technology roles at British Telecom and the American Red Cross. The company says its name stands for “Ideas to Excellence.” Today its delivery footprint spans the US, Europe and Asia. That history gives the AI offering a useful context: it sits inside a company accustomed to implementing technology for other organizations, with their existing constraints attached.

Idexcel’s relationship with Cync Software began in 2011, moving infrastructure onto Amazon Web Services. Cync needed a platform that could grow with customer data while protecting financial information. Its expertise was lending software; operating the underlying technology demanded another set of skills.

That relationship expanded into application development and support. Idexcel’s US and India teams let work continue across time zones, and Cync gained round-the-clock customer support. The arrangement illustrates the company’s place in the market: a technology partner that can stay involved after the migration has finished.

For a software business, the attraction is understandable. Product managers can concentrate on what customers want while an external team helps with deployments, monitoring and maintenance. The tradeoff is coordination: the lending expertise and the engineering expertise still need a shared understanding of what should happen next.

A long view of the short queue. Co-founder Prasad Alapati has led Idexcel since its 1998 beginnings. Today, the company’s work includes the document queues that slow lending down.

A product for the document pile

InferIQ gives this services company a named product. Announced on AWS Marketplace in November 2023, it processes material including PDFs, scanned documents and handwritten text. Its financial workflows cover bank statements, financial statements and tax returns. Extraction is the beginning: the useful output must be organized for the systems and people making credit decisions.

The platform’s capabilities include classification, redaction and connections to other applications through APIs. A bank can remove sensitive information before passing material to an external language model. An underwriting team can receive structured financial data instead of retyping numbers from a document.

  2. 02StructureExtract, map, validate
  3. 03ConnectAPIs and lending systems
The document is only the entrance. The destination is data another system can use.

InferIQ’s current website also describes financial spreading, accounting-term mapping and cash-flow analysis. That places it closer to an underwriting workflow than a general-purpose text scanner. Buyers should distinguish these functions carefully: recognizing a number and understanding which financial category it belongs in are different jobs.

The buying model reflects the work involved. Its AWS Marketplace listing asks customers to request a private offer based on requirements. The sensible budget includes document volume, integration, review and ongoing support. A low processing cost can be useful without representing the full cost of making the process work.

The plumbing is part of the offer

Idexcel’s broader offering connects AI to the systems beneath it. Cloud services include advisory work, migration, managed operations and cloud-native development. Data and analytics services address the information those applications consume. Managed cybersecurity covers identity, access, threat response and protection of applications and infrastructure.

There is a concrete example in its ERP migration work. Idexcel describes first moving a legacy workload to AWS, then changing the database platform to improve cost and reliability. That sequence matters: an organization can move the existing application before attempting every architectural improvement. Modernization can proceed in stages.

Its customers extend beyond banking. The company serves enterprise and public-sector buyers, and its PageXcel joint venture with Page After Page provides another route into government work. Compared with an internal engineering team, a specialist document vendor or another cloud consultancy, Idexcel offers a combination of implementation capacity, a document product and continuing operations.

The combination is useful when several problems arrive together. It is less compelling when a buyer needs one small, standardized extraction task and already has the people to integrate and run it. Breadth earns its place when the dependencies are real.

Copy the discipline, test the exceptions

In January 2026, Idexcel announced AWS Generative AI Services Competency. In July, it announced Agentic AI Competency; AWS subsequently listed its Agentic AI Consulting Services specialization. These credentials support its positioning, though a buyer still needs evidence from the workflow being purchased.

“It requires governance, security, trusted data, orchestration, and human oversight.”Prasad Alapati · on deploying agentic AI

The lesson worth copying is specific. Start with representative documents, including awkward ones. Separate extraction from business decisions. Measure how much correction remains, who owns that correction, and what happens when a downstream system rejects the result.

For a prospective customer, a useful pilot follows a document all the way through. Does its meaning survive the mapping? Can a reviewer trace and correct an error? Does the output reach the application that needs it? Idexcel’s most persuasive work addresses that complete journey. The column header is small. The queue behind it can be expensive.
