The Legal Cloud for Personal Injury Firms
A system of record built for one job - running a plaintiff PI practice from intake through settlement.
Most legal software tries to serve every kind of law firm at once - and ends up fitting none of them precisely. CloudLex made the opposite bet. It picked a single practice area, personal injury, and built the entire system of record around exactly how those firms work. That decision, made in a New York office in 2015, still defines the company.
The founders, brothers Dev and Sudhir Shrotri, did not arrive at the problem theoretically. Before CloudLex they co-founded Lexvia, a national civil litigation-support company that provided information management, remote paralegal support, and case management services to plaintiff firms across the United States. They watched injury firms bend their processes to fit generic tools that were never designed for the medical records, liens, and long settlement cycles a PI case demands.
CloudLex was the answer: a cloud-native platform, built on Microsoft Azure, that treats a personal injury matter as a single continuous workflow rather than a set of disconnected features. Intake, matter management, document handling, medical records retrieval, client communication, e-signatures, negotiations, and settlement all live in one place, linked to the matter.
Dev Shrotri serves as chief executive; Sudhir Shrotri is chief financial officer. Around them the company assembled a leadership bench that mixes enterprise software veterans with practicing personal injury litigators - a reflection of the belief that legal software has to be built by people who understand both code and casework.
The thesis has held up. Third-party trackers estimate CloudLex generates roughly $12.7M in annual recurring revenue with a team of about 110, on total venture funding of $7.7M. In a market that prizes ever-expanding addressable markets, CloudLex narrowed on purpose - and turned that discipline into a moat.
"Purposefully built to help plaintiff personal injury firms build, manage, and grow their business."
A personal injury case behaves like a supply chain. A lead comes in, medical records are gathered, liability is investigated, negotiations open, litigation may follow, and eventually a settlement is disbursed. Break one link - a missed deadline, a lost record, a client left in the dark - and the whole matter slows. CloudLex's core idea is to keep that chain unbroken inside a single platform.
Who uses it: plaintiff-side personal injury and mass tort law firms across the United States, from solo practitioners to mid-size and large firms. These are teams that live in medical records and statutes of limitation, and generic practice management software rarely speaks their language.
The problems it solves: fragmented tools that don't talk to each other, manual medical records retrieval, missed court deadlines, scattered client communication, and the compliance burden of holding sensitive medical data. CloudLex consolidates intake forms, documents, case updates, messaging, and settlement math into one matter-linked workflow - and pairs the software with human paralegals for the labor-intensive work like records retrieval and medical chronologies.
Intake Manager and Matter Manager run casework from first call to settlement, with documents, calendaring, deadlines, and reporting in one place.
Built-in AI for demand-package drafting, medical summaries and timelines, intake capture, and 24/7 client assistance - grounded in the firm's own case data.
Human-powered records retrieval, document indexing, medical chronologies, and litigation support - software plus people, not instead of people.
Structures, reviews, and manages intake information inside CloudLex, with Lexee AI capturing leads through website chat and phone.
The central system for the work behind every case - one place to manage casework from intake handoff through settlement.
HIPAA-compliant, matter-linked messaging to send updates, documents, videos, photos, and PDFs securely to clients.
Send, sign, store, and track signatures in real time from anywhere - directly inside the legal software.
Software and paralegal services to gather, index, and summarize the medical documentation at the heart of an injury case.
A community initiative with podcasts and stories celebrating the attorneys who take personal injury cases.
"Lexee AI lives inside the platform - built for PI workflows, tied to your data, every output in the matter."
CloudLex sits in a crowded field of legal practice management software - competitors include Filevine, Litify, SmartAdvocate, Clio, Smokeball, MyCase, and CASEpeer. Several of those also court personal injury firms. What separates CloudLex is focus: rather than serving many practice areas and adding PI as a configuration, it treats personal injury as the whole product.
That focus shows up in details customers notice. Reviews on G2, Capterra, and SoftwareAdvice repeatedly cite ease of use and support - one recurring line is that secretaries become productive within about five minutes of their first login. Security is treated as table stakes, not a feature: the platform runs cloud-native on Microsoft Azure with 256-bit encryption and compliance with HIPAA, IRS, and AICPA standards, which matters when a firm holds medical records for hundreds of injured clients.
Business model: B2B SaaS. CloudLex sells recurring subscriptions to PI firms and layers on human-powered paralegal services as add-ons - a hybrid of software and staffing that reflects how much of PI work is still hands-on document labor.
