The Software Partner Built Before Remote Work Had a Name

Bridge Global spent two decades learning how to make engineers across borders work like one team. Now that old operating skill is carrying it into HealthTech, enterprise AI and the less glamorous work of keeping complex software useful.

In 2005, remote work was not a lifestyle, a software category or an argument about office attendance. It was mostly a logistical headache. Hugo Messer saw something more useful in it. After visiting India, the Dutch entrepreneur founded Bridge Global around a plain business mismatch: companies in Europe needed software talent, talented engineers lived elsewhere, and the handoff between them was often where good intentions went to die.

Bridge Global's answer was not a marketplace or a piece of collaboration software. It was an operating method. Put engineers in dedicated teams, let them speak directly with clients, work in short Agile cycles, and treat culture as part of delivery rather than a footnote to the contract. The company opened its own centers, first in Ukraine and then India, because Messer wanted control over who joined and how those teams worked. That choice is the seed of the company as it exists now: headquartered in Schiphol, anchored by a large engineering operation in Kochi, and connected to clients and partners across Europe, North America and Asia.

Today Bridge Global describes itself as a software engineering partner. It builds custom applications, extends product teams, modernizes old systems, tests releases, connects clouds and data, and stays around after launch. Its current website leans hard into HealthTech, with insurance and ecommerce close behind. AI appears throughout the pitch, but usually as a tool inside planning, coding, testing and operations - not as a floating robot promising to run the company by Friday.

A services company that sells continuity

There is no single Bridge Global app to download. The product is assembled around the client's problem. A startup can hand over an idea and hire a full-cycle team to research, prototype, design, build and deploy it. An established company can add backend engineers, testers or designers to its existing group. A business with a creaking platform can bring in specialists for cloud migration, ERP integration, automation or long-term maintenance.

That breadth can sound generic until the cases get specific. For Premark, a Dutch architecture and planning firm, Bridge Global took responsibility for rebuilding a property-management platform with four user types, document versioning, contractor workflows and audit logs. For a Canadian cyber insurer, it supplied QA, development, project management and DevOps capacity to improve policy and customer systems. For Provido Global, it helped centralize multiple websites for a gaming provider around Microsoft Dynamics 365.

The healthcare work is more revealing. A Dutch startup called Axana needed a web application for multidisciplinary treatment meetings in hospitals. The software had to let specialists analyze cases and take structured notes quickly, across devices including iPads. MedQAIR, which works in the medical-device supply chain, credits Bridge Global with development and marketing support. These are not novelty apps. They sit in workflows where permissions, traceability, interoperability and a clean recovery from mistakes matter more than a clever launch video.

The margin lives between the project and the payroll

Bridge Global is privately held and appears to earn money in the familiar ways of a professional-services firm: scoped builds, dedicated teams, team extension and ongoing support. A supplied company estimate puts annual revenue at about $13.8 million, though Bridge Global does not publicly confirm the figure. LinkedIn places the team in the 201-to-500 range; the supplied record estimates 280 people.

The business model works when a relationship lasts. A short project sells hours and an outcome. A dedicated team accumulates product knowledge, understands the client's release rhythm and becomes harder to replace without losing context. That turns a temporary talent fix into recurring delivery. It also explains the emphasis on direct communication and self-organizing teams: if the engineers behave like distant ticket takers, the valuable continuity never forms.

Its technology list is broad because client infrastructure is broad: .NET and Azure, AWS, React, Node.js, Python, PHP, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, dbt, Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento all appear in its materials. Playwright, Cypress and Jest support the less photogenic but essential testing layer. The company also offers UI/UX, mobile, IoT, cloud and DevOps work. In other words, it competes in software's complicated middle, where a new interface must coexist with an old database and somebody still needs to own Tuesday's failed deployment.

Automation meets the integration tax

Bridge Global's newer AI language is strongest when attached to a concrete bottleneck. In one ecommerce partnership with Swedish firm Glanser, its team helped build an AI-based coding engine that interprets requirements and Figma designs, generates user stories and project structures, and creates starter modules for the Litium commerce platform. Alongside a reusable component library and standardized ERP connectors, the system reportedly cut initial project setup time by 45 to 50 percent.

That example also shows where the company differs from an AI-only consultancy. The model call is one component. The surrounding work includes .NET, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Azure services, Business Central and other ERP connections. Orders must travel back to the right system. Inventory and pricing must stay synchronized. Generated code still needs architecture, testing and maintenance. Bridge Global is selling the whole chain, with AI reducing selected steps rather than erasing engineering.

Its partnership ecosystem widens that chain. Glanser brings modular B2B commerce. Group company Cleffex adds engineering, cloud and automation capacity. Ekipa contributes Agile coaching, AI training and healthcare integration expertise. Corporate materials also describe Bridge Global as a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, which fits the company's long record of .NET, Azure and Dynamics projects.

AI can make code cheaper. It cannot decide which clinical exception matters, untangle an ERP by itself or take responsibility for a release.

Too experienced to be a body shop, too small to be an empire

Bridge Global occupies the middle of a crowded market. On one side are global consultancies such as Accenture, Cognizant and Capgemini, with enormous benches and procurement familiarity. On another are digital product studios and distributed engineering firms such as Netguru, BairesDev and Simform. The cheapest alternative is often a handful of freelancers; the most controlled alternative is hiring an internal team.

Its defense is neither scale nor a proprietary platform. It is the claim that cultural alignment can be systematized. Bridge Global's writing has returned to this idea for years: offshore colleagues should be treated as part of the organization, clients should influence team selection, and people across cultures should meet rather than pass work through a black box. The language predates today's remote-work manuals, which gives it more weight than a fresh set of values painted on a careers page.

The internal culture is deliberately visible. Employee essays describe mentor-mentee onboarding, open access to management, room to own ideas and regular learning. The company calls its employees “Bridgys.” Its Kochi calendar mixes technical sessions with alumni gatherings, cultural programs and a surprisingly durable IT futsal tournament. The 2025 edition was the ninth season and drew 45 teams. A football competition does not prove software quality, but it does reveal a company trying to create local community inside a global organization.

Treat distance as a design constraint

The practical lesson in Bridge Global's story is available even to companies that never hire it. Distributed work improves when ownership is explicit, feedback is frequent and the remote team receives business context rather than isolated tasks. Product memory compounds. Direct conversations beat elaborate relay systems. A vendor should be able to challenge a deadline instead of politely shipping the wrong thing.

Potential customers should still test the claim. Ask who will remain after discovery, how much overlap exists across time zones, where data can be accessed, how incidents are handled and which outcomes appear in the weekly demo. For healthcare, ask about traceability, access controls and interoperability. For AI, ask which decisions stay human and how generated output is tested. The right answer is rarely a list of model names.

Bridge Global reached its twentieth anniversary in 2025 and marked the year with the theme “BridgeAI.” The name is neat, but the more consequential bridge is the older one: between a client's institutional knowledge and an engineering team far away. If that connection holds, AI becomes another useful tool. If it does not, faster code merely produces confusion at a higher rate.
